It’s another installment of Talk Marvel to Me, and this week we’re highlighting characters from Captain America: Winter Soldier. Last time I wrote about Captain America, naturally. This time I’m writing about one of his BFFs – Falcon. Falcon plays a crucial role in Captain America: Winder Soldier, and I think he’s underappreciated. So next time you need an Avengers costume – try this easy DIY Falcon costume.
Talk Marvel to Me
Don’t forget to check out the other Captain America: Civil War posts from our group! Taty has a Black Widow cocktail, and Patty is up with Captain America’s other bestie, Winter Soldier, and Bucky’s Blackberry Lemonade recipe. Britni has the Stan Lee cameo-inspired Avengers game. These ladies are so talented!
Easy DIY Falcon Costume
One of my favorite scenes in Captain America: Civil War is when Falcon is running and Captain America yells, “On your left!” and then whizzes by. I always laugh and laugh. He’s a cool dude, so I’ve actually dressed up like Falcon during Halloween for a family Avengers costume, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, and as a running costume for the Avengers Half Marathon Weekend in Disneyland.
First I started with the base layer. Really, you can just use all black or gray clothing, but I had a pair of black and gray camo-like running pants, which reminds me of Falcon’s pants. Then I wore a long-sleeved black running shirt (I didn’t have the biceps for short-sleeved), and some black boots. The most important part are the wings and glasses. I bought a wing accessory kit (affiliate link), and it even came with glasses. Easy peasy DIY Falcon Costume.
For Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween party, I did add some utility belt-like material to the shirt. I found it at the fabric store and just hot glued it on the shirt. I think it made me felt tough.
DIY Falcon Running Costume
To change DIY Falcon costume to a DIY Falcon running costume, just add tech gear and running shoes. I also changed out the glasses to sunglasses. Yes you can run on the race course with wings. I swear it makes you go faster.
About Falcon in the MCU
Samuel Thomas “Sam” Wilson, better known as Falcon, is a former United States Air Force pararescue airman who left active duty and began helping fellow veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder at the VA (Veterans Affairs). During this time, Falcon became an ally of Captain America during the HYDRA Uprising and assisted him in his search for Bucky Barnes in Captain America: Winter Soldier. After the Ultron Offensive, Falcon became a member of the second incarnation of the Avengers. You can also find him in Ant-Man and Captain America: Civil War.
Don’t forget the Avengers: Infinity War release date has changed to April 27th! And to get ready, watch these Marvel movies in order before you see Avengers: Infinity War.
