DIY Incredible Hulk Costume for Adults

With Avengers: Infinity War opening on April 27th, I have a feeling we’re going to see a surge in Avengers Costumes for Halloween and Cosplay. I have sported an Incredible Hulk costume for a race, and my husband wore a Hulk costume for Halloween. Each Incredible Hulk costume for adults is quick and easy. Check out how we made them work.

Talk Marvel to Me

For this week’s edition of Talk Marvel to Me, we’re focusing on characters from Avengers: Age of Ultron. Britni’s got a Hawkeye DisneyBound, Patty has Scarlet Witch Raspberry Jam cupcakes (yum!), and Taty has a Vision DisneyBounding outfit. We like to eat and dress up around here. Adult Incredible Hulk Costume for Running

The most important elements to any Hulk costume are the green and the fists. An Incredible Hulk Costume shirt is best since it makes you look tougher, but if you’re in a pinch, plain green will work. This wasn’t the exact Hulk shirt (affiliate link) I used, but it looks just like it.

I like the traditional Hulk in purple bottoms, so I wore a purple Sparkle Athletic running skirt over my favorite pair of running shorts. Then for the accessories, I added an Incredible Hulk trucker hat I found on clearance at Party City. It’s definitely not needed. I also ran 13.1 miles for the Avengers Half Marathon in Disneyland in Hulk fists (affiliate link), but I found softer fists that were easier for me to take on and off for pictures.  My friend, Patty, ran in an Incredible Hulk costume, too, and she tied her Hulk fists together with an elastic, so she didn’t have to wear them the whole race. Can I give a special shoutout to the Loki Cosplayer? Legit, right?

Incredible Hulk Costume for Adults

When my family did an Avengers Family Costume for Halloween one year, my husband was in the Incredible Hulk Costume. He wore my shirt that I used for my Incredible Hulk running costume. We got him different Hulk fists and bought purple sweatpants at Walmart. Then we cut off half of the legs and cut strips, so it looked liked he ripped through them. I mean, he is huge 😉 Super easy costume! If you really want to go all out, then grab some green face and body paint, and Hulk Smash it up!

Meet Hulk

Hulk was first introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in his stand-alone film, The Incredible Hulk starring Edward Norton. It’s sometimes forgotten, because now Hulk is played by Mark Ruffalo, and really it’s not a good movie. He later appears in The Avengers, The Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Thor: Ragnarok.

Robert Bruce Banner, M.D., Ph.D is a renowned scientist who was highly respected for all his work in the fields of Biochemistry, Nuclear Physics, and Gamma Radiation. He was tasked by General Thaddeus Ross to find a way to recreate the Super Soldier Serum which had originated Captain America. So Banner conducted an experiment with Gamma Radiation. However when an exposure to high levels of Gamma Radiation instead of Vita Radiation went awry, the mild-mannered scientist had found that when angered or provoked, he would then transform into the huge rage-fueled and nearly mindless green-skinned monster known as Hulk.
