Wondering if Godzilla vs. Kong is ok for kids? Godzilla vs. Kong is rated PG-13 for language and violence. It’s a typical giant monster movie, so expect some of the same from previous Godzilla and Kong movies, however this time, it’s about the creatures. Are you Team Kong or Team Godzilla? Here’s what parents need to know in this Godzilla vs. Kong Parents Guide.
Godzilla Vs. Kong Parents Guide
This is the matchup fans have been waiting for. Legends collide in “Godzilla vs. Kong” as these mythic adversaries meet in a battle for the ages. Kong and his protectors go on a journey to find his true home and with them is Jia, a young orphaned girl with whom he has formed a unique and powerful bond. But they unexpectedly find themselves in the path of an enraged Godzilla who will not let Kong encroach on his territory. Thus the battle ensues.
Why is Godzilla Vs. Kong rated PG-13? Parents need to know there is some language, destruction, and violence. And well, that’s why most people are coming to watch this film.
There is some language including uses of sh*t, g-ddamn, bit*h, and an almost use of fu*k.
Expect a lot of what you saw in the previous Godzilla films. Lots of death, destruction, monsters leveling cities, etc. There are weapons used including guns and missiles. The film is loud and a lot of things are blown up.
There is no sexual content, but some consumption of alcohol.
Is Godzilla Vs. Kong Appropriate for Kids Under 13?
Is Godzilla Vs. Kong kid friendly? Probably not, but that doesn’t mean kids can’t watch it. The Godzilla franchise is sort of like the Marvel franchise for me. Is it probably too violent for young ones? Sure. However, as the parent, you know what your kids can and can’t handle. PG-13 is an accurate rating, but younger kids could watch, especially if they’re fans of the other Godzilla movies and have seen them.
If your kids can distinguish reality versus fantasy, then they’ll enjoy this knock-down-drag-out fight (well several) between Godzilla and Kong. However, if your little ones are sensitive to death and fighting, then this may be too much for their tender hearts.
However, they do try to give Kong a soft-hearted side as he bonds with an orphaned girl who is deaf. And Godzilla maybe is just misunderstood.
Take a look at the previews, and you’ll get a good idea of what to expect as far as action is concerned. The humans are the supporting characters and the main event is the clash of the titans – Godzilla and Kong. Don’t come for the story, but more of the ‘let’s bust things up’ part, and you won’t be disappointed.
Expect violence, destruction, and a good action movie for fans of these beasts.
