Wondering if Secret Headquarters is ok for kids? This family action film brings the laughs and the heart. While there may be a few things parents need to watch for, overall, Secret Headquarters is kid friendly and great especially for the tween crowd. Here’s what parents need to know in this Secret Headquarters Parents Guide.
Secret Headquarters Parents Guide
Owen Wilson plays a dad who happens upon/is gifted some Alien technology. He later is known as the superhero “The Guard.” However, while taking on that responsibility, the relationships with his family suffered, especially with his son. He just doesn’t know that superhero is his dad. However when some bad guys want that alien tech, Charlie and his friends have to protect it and the fate of humanity.

Is Secret Headquarters Kid Friendly?
Parents need to know that Secret Headquarters does contain some language and violence that may be too much for young kids, and there is an on-screen kiss.
Language
There is some language in Secret Headquarters including bastard, damn, butt, hell, piss, loser, and”oh my g-d.”
Action
Bad guys armed with guns try to kill Charlie and his friends and shoot at them, tie them up, and threaten them. One character is shot and killed. Some of the violence is used for comedic purposes.
Mature Content
There is a kiss between two teenagers. Some of the teens have crushes on each other and go out on dates.
Underage kids drive a vehicle. Teens talk about throwing a”rager.”

Is Secret Headquarters Appropriate for Kids Under 10?
Secret Headquarters is great for that tween age – 10 to 14 years old. It’s a mix of Spy Kids and Sky High, and while it may not introduce anything particularly new, the comedy and action make it a fun family superhero film.
All the kid, well young adult, actors are funny, charming, and act age appropriately. They’re silly, somewhat obnoxious at times, and like I said, act their age. Some kids who are fans of The Adam Project or The Baby-Sitters Club may want to watch since Walker and Momona are stars of those projects.
Owen Wilson and Michael Peña are definitely underutilized for as great as comedic actors as they are. That would have made this film a little more relatable and entertaining for adults.
This one is geared towards kids, and I’m not mad about it, but there are things that could have made it better. The story is underdeveloped as are some of the relationships between characters. There are a lot of great messages about family and even great friends that open up dialogue for parents and kids.
