What’s New in 2020 on Disney Plus

Happy New Year! 2019 was exciting with the launch of Disney+ and included hit shows like The Mandalorian and High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. Waiting for that new 2020 Disney+ content? Well here’s the new original Disney shows you can expect on Disney Plus in 2020!

What’s New on Disney Plus in 2020

Are you ready for all the goodness coming in 2020? I can’t wait! The biggest surprise, though, is probably the announcement that Marvel’s WandaVision was moved up to be released in 2020 rather than 2021. Disney+ announced their 2020 lineup!

Lizzie McGuire

Yes!! I’m so excited for the return of Hilary Duff and so many of the old gang! Gordo’s back as well as Lizzie’s parents and brother. Can’t wait to see what she’s like in her 30s!

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

This is Marvel Studios’ first original series!! Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan have already started filming! The series explores The Falcon’s actions after receiving Captain America’s shield at the end of Avengers: Endgame. And you can’t forget Captain America’s other best friend, Bucky Barnes as The Winter Soldier.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier premieres August 2020 on Disney+!!

So this is exciting news! Marvel’s WandaVision was supposed to debut in 2021, and now it seems it’s been pushed up to 2020! I’m here for this dramedy.

WandaVision will land on Disney+ in December. This series blends the style of classic sitcoms with the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda and Vision —two super-powered beings living their ideal suburban lives—begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars

It’s the final season of Star War: The Clone Wars! The Clone Wars season 7 will consist of 12 new episodes and premiere in February 2020 only on Disney Plus.

Muppets Now

Muppets Now will be a short-form new Muppets unscripted series. This should definitely be interesting.

Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made

Based on the book series, an 11-year-old boy believes he is the best detective in town and runs the agency Total Failure Inc. with his partner, a 1,500-pound, polar bear, and his sidekick Rollo Tookus. It stars Winslow Fegley as Timmy Failure.

Grace VanderWaal stars as a quirky, homeschooled teenager that shakes things up at her uptight high school in Arizona.

The Phineas & Ferb Movie: Candace Against the Universe

My kids have been rewatching all the old Phineas and Ferb episodes on Disney+, so we can’t wait for this movie when our favorite older sister gets more of a starring role.

Secret Society of Second Born Royals

The Secret Society of Second Born Royals is a sci-fi movie made just for Disney Plus starring Peyton Elizabeth Lee (Andi Mack) and Sylar Astin (Pitch Perfect). The film follows Sam, “a rebellious princess second in line to the throne of the kingdom of Illyria.” Just as Sam’s disinterest in the royal way of life is at an all-time high, she is stunned to learn that she has superpowers and belongs to a secret society with a longstanding tradition of covertly keeping the peace throughout the kingdom.

The movie follows Sam’s adventures at a top-secret training program for a new class of second-born royals tasked with saving the world.

Rogue Trip and Becoming

Two new docuseries coming to Disney Plus in 2020 are Rogue Trip and Becoming. In Rogue Trip, Bob Woodruff and his 27-year-old son, Mack, take fans to all the places the average tourist wouldn’t typically go. They journey to overlooked parts of the world.

Becoming focuses on the upbringing of celebrities and world-class entertainers, musicians and athletes, from LeBron James and his Springhill Entertainment, ESPN Films, Spoke Studios and ITV America. It’s a glimpse of how they rose to stardom as they interview friends, family, and even old teachers.

Season 2 of  The Mandalorian and High School Musical: The Musical: The Series

The success of both of these series have been amazing, and I’ve enjoyed watching them both. I don’t think even Disney knew how popular Baby Yoda or The Child would become.

Season 2 of The Mandalorian will premiere in October 2020. Have you read these awesome quotes from The Mandalorian?

And the 2nd Season of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series will premiere in late 2020.

So what are you most excited for in 2020 on Disney Plus?

Disney+ is also the exclusive streaming home for the biggest blockbuster films from Walt Disney Studios including “Aladdin,” “Toy Story 4,” and “The Lion King. With classics and original content, that’s why I bought Disney Plus the minute it was offered at D23 Expo!
