What does Lola Lambchops mean?

Why exactly did I choose the name Lola Lambchops for a blog? Everyone said I should choose a blog name where readers could tell what my blog was about just by reading the title. I’ve never been one to always follow the rules. So what does Lola Lambchops mean? It’s a combination of things, and it’s important to me.

What does Lola Lambchops mean? Why would I choose it as a blog name?

What does Lola Lambchops mean?

I found an old post I wrote a long time ago introducing myself and some friends, and I had to laugh as I looked at the pictures. I’m a total dork, and I make a lot of goofy faces. But it’s one of my favorite qualities about myself.

I chose the name @LolaLambchops as all my social media handles back in the day, and so it seemed natural to move that over to my personal blog. You see, Lola Lambchops means something to me. It’s not an alter ego or anything, but it’s a reminder.

I’ve always liked the name Lola. I thought I would use it for a daughter. I had 5 of them, so surely, someone could use it, but it never fit. And maybe it didn’t fit, because I didn’t let it fit. I remember posting on Facebook (big mistake, lesson learned) about name choices. Some people didn’t have good things to say about the name, and perhaps I let that influence me.

Lola Lambchops Is a Reminder

Lola Lambchops serves as a reminder to me to not care about what other people think. And not in the, ‘I don’t give two effs’ sense, because I still want to be respectful of people. However, I’m going to be secure enough in my decisions, because I am a smart, confident woman, capable of making decisions for myself.  Now my close friends will sometimes call me Lola as a term of endearment or when my feisty Latina side comes out. When they do, it makes me smile.

My married last name is Lamb. My mother-in-law was a hairdresser and owned her own beauty salon. My husband told me he thought Lambchops would always be a good name for a barber shop, you know, a play on Lamb. He’s kinda dorky, too. Needless to say, his mom did not name her salon Lambchops.

I wasn’t really close to my mother-in-law. We had some typical mother-in-law/daughter-in-law issues. There were things said and done, and hurt feelings and pride were hard to get over. Then she passed away from cancer. I live with the regret that maybe I didn’t try hard enough. Because really when you hold a grudge, you’re just harboring anger, and that anger is directed somewhere. It hurts you more than the person you’re angry with.

Lambchops serves as a reminder for me to be a forgiving person. Life is too short to hold onto grudges even if you’re right or if you think you’re right. I always want to choose love over pride.

Sorry if there were some Shari Lewis Lamb Chop sock puppet fans out there hoping this was a fan page.

Live Your Best Life

So that’s it in a nutshell. I’m just a dorky mom who likes to have fun. I want my kids to know that it’s okay to like what you like and to not take yourself too seriously. That’s why I participate in Bus Stop Costumes.

I want them to have memories of a mom who isn’t afraid to get dirty with them, will be their biggest supporter, embarrass herself to win tickets to take them to a Wiggles concert, drive them to a boy band concert 2 hours away just for fun, and dress them in ridiculous costumes for free chicken. We’re living our best lives over here.

Lola Lambchops serves as a reminder to live your best life.

Earn free chicken at Chick-fil-A during Cow Appreciation Day.

Lola Lambchops as the 5th Wiggle in Hershey, PA.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you’ll stay and chat, have a dance party or two with us, or just have a laugh.
