Wondering if Rogue City on Netflix is ok for kids and teens? Rated TV-MA for language, violence, and nudity Rogue City is not kid friendly. Also, the movie is in French, so teens may get bored with subtitles even with all the action scenes. Here’s what parents need to know in this Rogue City Parents Guide.
Rogue City Parents Guide
Caught in the crosshairs of police corruption and Marseille’s warring gangs, a loyal cop must protect his squad by taking matters into his own hands. If the first two minutes of a film is any indication how the rest is going to go, a woman screams loudly, dark screen, man appears and then proceeds to shoot dog.
Rogue City is a dark film, and I wouldn’t recommend it for kids under 18. Here’s what parents need to know.
It’s French, there’s plenty of profanity. Although if you don’t know French, you’re reading all the curse words as subtitles. But there are at least 40 uses of fu–, sh–, a–, a–hole, b—- combined. There are also uses of crude and crass language.
Besides being incredibly violent with killings, torture, blood, guns, shootings, gangs, euthanasia, etc, there is a lot of nudity. Not only in intimate relationships, but also with forms of sexual assault. There’s full frontal nudity and in one scene, a man is running naked down the street.
A woman is beaten, and another character is murdered in front of their child.
Characters are shown drinking alcohol and smoking.
Is Rogue City Appropriate for Kids Under 18?
Rogue City felt full of cliches and no real story. Just like in Cuties, the French feel different about sexuality, so the excessive nudity may not sit well with teens or others. This film does nothing for advocating for women or making them appear as strong characters.
If you want to watch a film with attractive leads, lots of shootings, and not a lot of substance, Rogue City may be for you.
