Wondering if Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is kid friendly or too scary for kids? For the most part, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is a really cute ride for kids and families, with no height requirement. There may be a room or two that will be too loud or dark for some young kids. Here’s your Parents Guide to Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Walt Disney World and at Disneyland.
Is Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway Kid Friendly?
Yes! Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is extremely kid friendly as it is based on Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts and stars Mickey Mouse and friends! You even get an appearance from Daisy Duck. The storyline follows Mickey and Minnie’s leisurely car ride until you join Engineer Goofy’s runaway train!
The track is flat and is not fast, so you don’t have to worry about speed. There is one room where you do a conga dance, so the car moves from side to side.
What is the Height Restriction for Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway?
There is no height restriction for Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, so all ages can ride, even infants and toddlers. It runs on a flat track with no drops.
Is Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway Scary For Kids?
Parents should be aware that some rooms are darker than others which may cause little ones to jump. One room has a tornado scene where the wind blows and some young kids may not like the wind aspect or think Mickey and Minnie really are in danger.
For the most part though, the rooms are full of bright and vibrant colors like cartoons within some of the dark scenes.
Another room has a scene where Mickey and Minnie are in a boat and come to the end of a waterfall and fall down it, which may be a little scary for young ones, but again, they try to make it as light-hearted and fun as possible while still giving it an element of excitement.
Will Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway Make You Motion Sick?
On the motion sickness scale, I give Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway a 3/10. For me, it doesn’t make me motion sick at all, but I do know friends who have felt a little queasy. Mostly friends have felt sick because of the big screens mixed with movement.
For me, although rides like Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Star Tours, and Flight of Passage do make me motion sick, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway does not because it’s in 2D, and I don’t have to wear 3D glasses.
It certainly is no Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, because the speed is so slow.
Overall, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is fun for the whole family – from littles to bigs! It’s one of my favorite rides at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and is one of of my top pick for toddlers at Disney World.
And don’t forget, to ride at Disneyland, here are tips how you can get a boarding group for Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. There is not standby queue like in Walt Disney World.
