Many people are asking will Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in Epcot make you motion sick? It will probably make some people sick, as it has a lot of queasy elements. A lot depends on what type of motion makes you sick and what rides you can normally handle.
Does Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Make You Sick?
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is making guests motion sick. Some cast members are even handing out vomit bags. I have seen people puking when they get off the ride.
It’s hard to predict who will get sick on Cosmic Rewind. And it also depends how you react to certain rides.
When my husband rode for the first time, he said the ride made him dizzy and queasy, but he also skipped breakfast, so that could have added to it. The second time he rode, no issues.
The description of the ride says you rotate 360 degrees, but you do not spin. That section on Remy when you spin a few times, oof, that does me in.
But Cosmic Rewind can still make you dizzy as it sways and twists, leaving some guests a little disoriented.
Some people may get more queasy the more they focus on the big screens around them. There are huge screens with some of the characters talking to you as well as other elements. If you are prone to motion sickness don’t try to watch them while you move. I tried it once, learned my lesson, and now just focus on the track or attempt to look forward.
Also, another contribution may be alcohol. Alcohol + heat + somewhat spinning motion does not usually have a good outcome.
I traditionally get motion sick on Space Mountain, Star Tours, Flight of Passage, and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, but on Cosmic Rewind, I’m pretty ok.
Is Cosmic Rewind Intense?
The ride track on Cosmic Rewind is very smooth, but you also feel like you’re riding sideways sometimes. It’s a very fun and cool motion, but it’s hard to describe. I would describe Cosmic Rewind as less intense than Expedition Everest, but there are some moments that are similar, like the backwards launch.
You’ll go semi-fast (definitely faster in the back). If you usually need dramamine for rides, then it’s probably not a bad idea to take one. However, to me it wasn’t bad. I was a little dizzy and a little queasy, but nothing that would ruin my day. If you close your eyes if you start to feel any nausea, then that helps me alleviate some of the motion sickness on Cosmic Rewind.
I was starting to feel nausea one time, I closed my eyes for a second, and I was able to reset.
When getting off the ride the first time, I did notice it felt like I had just been on a cruise ship, and I was a little wobbly getting off. However, the smoothness of the ride with the pumped up music distracted me. Immediately getting off the ride I thought, I wish I could ride again. That’s not always the case.
My husband who does not get motion sick on ride besides things like the teacups did feel queasy. He said he felt queasy every time the car was not going in a straight line or facing forward. Well that’s a lot of the ride. Like I said, you do go sideways on the track, so you’re not always facing forward.
Cosmic Rewind Motion Sickness Tips
These Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind tips to avoid getting motion sick can help alleviate some nausea and dizziness.
- The best car to ride to avoid getting motion sick on Cosmic Rewind is the front car.
- Try taking Bonine. Many friends and guests have said it works for them.
- Don’t ride on an empty stomach or a full stomach.
- Try using Sea-Bands on your wrists for nausea.
- Don’t look around at the screens while you ride.
The backwards launch tends to make people’s stomach drop or disorient them, so I thought the back car would be the worst. No, it’s definitely the middle cars. Although I was fine in the middle, it took my breath away for a hot second.
The back cars didn’t make me feel ill at all, but the back cars were the fastest for the rest of the ride, and if you want more thrill in general, that was my favorite place to sit.
None of my kids got motion sick, but like I said, it all depends on what types of motions make you queasy. The cars do move sideways and sometimes you are not facing forward. However, it’s a great coaster that is not a super thrill ride, but it’s got enough thrill and fun factor for older kids and teens.
