Want to ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT? Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will require a boarding group by virtual queue or you’ll have to buy Lightning Lane at an additional cost. These Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Virtual Queue tips and hacks will help you get on the ride!
How to Ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
If you don’t want to buy Lightning Lane, you’ll need to join the virtual queue to ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. You’ll find that virtual queue on the My Disney Experience App.
In 2024, theme park reservations are no longer required for all ticket types for park admission. You don’t necessarily need a park reservation to join the virtual queue for Cosmic Rewind, but you do need valid admission for EPCOT. Annual Passholders and special ticket types still require an EPCOT reservation.
Guests must have valid admission and a theme park reservation (for certain ticket types) to join the virtual queue for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. So make sure you have all that sorted out before you try to enter the queue.
What Times can you Join the Virtual Queue for Cosmic Rewind?
There will be 2 daily opportunities to request to join the virtual queue for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind for any guests.
- 7:00 AM (Guests do not need to be in the park when they join, but must have a theme park reservation for EPCOT)

These Guests will need valid admission and a theme park reservation (for certain ticket types) for the same park on the same day to experience extended evening hours—or, they may experience extended evening hours if they have a ticket or Annual Pass with the Park Hopper option and first enter the park for which they made their reservation.

Number One Hack to Get a Boarding Group for Cosmic Rewind
My number one hack to join the Virtual Queue Boarding Group for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is to use the World Clock. This has never failed me (knock on wood) or for the virtual queue for TRON.
5 minutes before 7 a.m., I click Join Virtual Queue from the My Disney Experience App home screen.
I make sure all my party is correct and remove any other friends that may have a ticket, but who won’t be riding with me.
I go to the World Clock on another device and when the clock says 6:59:59, I tap refresh on the screen above.
Once you hit refresh, then hit join again! Don’t look at the other information, just tap it.
If you get a boarding group, you’ll see a Cosmic Rewind Boarding Group number on the next screen – congrats!!
Every time I have tried this, I have gotten a boarding group.
I’m not gonna lie. It’s stressful, but the good news is, it’s easier than getting a Ride of the Resistance Boarding group in the old days, and easier than getting a TRON virtual queue group, because this can load more people. You can read my Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind review to see if it’s worth the stress.
Spoiler alert: it is. It’s also a ride I would pay for Lightning Lane. You can also use Rider Switch Service for the ride, because Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is not kid friendly for all kids.
It will also give you that option if you want to skip the virtual queue.
Also, as of right now, Disney give you some leeway if you’re late to your Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind boarding group. However, that may change in the future.
How to Buy Lightning Lane to Ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
If you want to skip the virtual queue process to ride Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind, you can purchase an Individual Lightning Lane. This is not Genie+, so if you purchase Genie+ for your EPCOT day, it will not allow you to ride Cosmic Rewind.
You can also purchase a Lightning Lane if you joined the virtual queue if you want to ride twice in one day.
You will need a valid park ticket to purchase an Individual Lightning Lane for Cosmic Rewind.
Guests staying at a Disney hotel can purchase Lightning Lanes beginning at 7 am and all other guests can purchase one at park opening.
Go to the Tip Board on My Disney Experience app. You also can access it with the “+” button at the bottom middle of the Home Screen and tap “View My Genie Day and Tip Board.”
Make sure Epcot is selected as the theme park.
Scroll through the list of attractions until you find Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. The price can vary, but will probably be around $15 on non-holidays.
Click the Individual Lightning Lane box.
Then you’ll select your time and party.
Hit continue if it looks good to you and purchase!
Note: If you purchase Genie+, that does not make you eligible to ride Cosmic Rewind. You’ll need to purchase an Individual Lightning Lane for Cosmic Rewind. You do NOT need to purchase Genie+ to purchase and Individual Lightning Lane.
Good luck! And if you tend to get motion sick, then check out if Cosmic Rewind will make you sick.
