If you’re looking to ride TRON Lightcycle Run at Disney World, these tips and hacks will help you get a boarding group in the Virtual Queue for TRON at Magic Kingdom. There is currently no standby line. You can ride TRON Lightcycle Run through the Virtual Queue or by purchasing an Individual Lightning Lane.
How to Ride TRON Lightcycle Run at Disney World
In order to ride TRON Lightcycle Run at Magic Kingdom, you need to buy a Lightning Lane or get a boarding group through the Virtual Queue. You will not be able to ride just by walking up and standing in line.
You have two chances to join the Virtual Queue for TRON – 7 :00AM and 1:00 PM ET.
Follow these TRON Lightcycle Run Virtual Queue Tips and Instructions to Ride:
- You must have theme park admission to Magic Kingdom and a park reservation.
- Make sure everyone in your party has a valid ticket and reservation.
- Go to the My Disney Experience App and hit Join Virtual Queue BEFORE 7:00 a.m.
- Make sure you are toggled on Magic Kingdom and it says TRON Lightcycle/ Run
- Next press “Confirm Your Party” and make sure your entire party is correct.
- Check the World Clock and click Join at 6:59:59.
- Hit Join Again and get your confirmation for your boarding group on TRON!
Why should you check the world clock? Well, you can see the clock down to the seconds. You want a second headstart so that when the page is reloading, it will reload closer to the 7:00 time as they release the virtual queues.
Once you hit join, you want to hit join another time really quickly. Just tap, tap. Boarding groups are gone in seconds, so it really does matter. This isn’t to stress you out, but honestly, it can get stressful. The good news is you still have another chance if you don’t get one in the morning.
You’ll have an hour to go to TRON Lightcycle Run once your boarding group is called. Keep checking the app for an estimated wait time. They’re being really strict on your Boarding Group window for TRON, so don’t be late if you want to ride. It’s not like Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind when you could come back anytime after your boarding group was called.
What Time Can You Join the Virtual Queue for TRON?
Guests have two chances a day to join the TRON Lightcycle Run virtual queue:
- 7:00 AM (Guests do not need to be in the park when they join, but must have a theme park reservation for Magic Kingdom)
- 1:00 PM (Guests must be in Magic Kingdom to join the virtual queue at this time)
If you miss the opportunity to join at 7:00 a.m., then there is another shot at 1:00 p.m. and you’d follow the same steps as above, but you would look at the world clock and wait until 12:59:59.
You want to login early to give yourself enough time to check your party on the app. You want to do all that before it’s time to join. Some people keep refreshing a minute before, but I’ve always used the trick to wait until one second before while watching the World Clock and hit join.
How to Buy Lightning Lane for TRON Lightcycle Run
You can also buy Lightning Lane during the soft opening for TRON. Purchase Lightning Lane for TRON Lightcycle Run like you would any other attraction. The easiest way for me to purchase it is to go to the Tip Board on My Disney Experience app. You also can access it with the “+” button at the bottom middle of the Home Screen and tap “View My Genie Day and Tip Board.”
- Make sure Magic Kingdom is selected as the theme park.
- Scroll through the list of attractions until you find TRON Lightcycle Run. The price can vary depending on crowds.
- Click the Individual Lightning Lane box.
- Then select your time and party.
How Much does Lightning Lane Cost for TRON Lightcycle Run?
Price can vary, but in July 2023, an individual Lightning Lane cost $20 per guest. And they were still available when I checked at 12:30 p.m.
Good luck! TRON is fun, but I wouldn’t necessarily pay $100 for my family to ride it. I’d spend that money on Cosmic Rewind instead.
