9 TRON Lightcycle Run Tips To Know Before Your Ride

Best Tips to Know Before Riding TRON at Disney World

TRON, the newest attraction in Magic Kingdom, is fast-paced and thrilling! Did you know about all these secret TRON tips? Prepare to leave the world behind and enter the computerized version of the Grid. Know these tips before you go on TRON to help you have the best time ever!

1. Ride in the Front if You Want More Thrill

After riding in the front, back, and middle, the front is definitely the most intense on the initial launch. And if you’re prone to motion sickness, it might make you the most queasy. Here’s a more complete guide to whether TRON Lightcycle Run will make you motion sick.

2. Don’t Wear a Skirt to Ride TRON

In the parks, I usually wear stretchy skirts when it’s hot. If you’re planning on riding TRON Lightcycle Run on your park day, leave the skirts at home. There’s no real graceful way to get on, and especially off the ride. Plus the people behind you might get a show.

3. Leave Your Hats in Your Locker

There are lockers before you board TRON Lightcycle Run where you have to leave everything bigger than a phone. You can try to stuff your hat in the phone compartment on the ride, but if it doesn’t fit, you’ll have to return back to the lockers and store it there.

Use your MagicBand to open lockers or you can ask a Cast Member in the locker area for a card to use the lockers.

4. Try the Lightcycle Test Seats in Front of the Ride

Some guests are worried about fitting in the TRON Lightcycles prior to boarding. There are TRON test seats in front of the attraction to determine how comfortable or uncomfortable the fit will be and whether the restraints will close. It’s not 100% foolproof but gives you a good idea on whether to ask for the alternative seat.

5. Bring Your Phone to Get TRON Ride Pictures

Bring your phone with you on TRON if you want to access your ride photos without a MagicBand. You’ll need to make sure your Bluetooth is on to get your ride photo from TRON, and you can leave your phone in the compartment on the Lightcycle.

You can also scan this on the way in to the attraction, so your mobile device settings are set up properly.

6. Ride TRON Lightcycle Run at Night if Possible

If you can, I’d recommend riding TRON at night. There’s just something about the lights at dusk. It’s definitely still fun during the daytime, but I preferred riding in the evening for extra effect.

There is no standby queue for TRON when it opens, so you’ll either have to buy a Lightning Lane or get a free Boarding Group with Virtual Queue. Here’s how to get a boarding group on TRON

If you know you’ll be at Magic Kingdom in the evening, grab a Lightning Lane for TRON at night.

7. Stand Side By Side in the TRON Loading Area

When you get put in the queue to board the Lightcycles next, stand next to the person you’re riding with. Some people get confused and want to line up behind the person they ride with. My family made the same mistake. But you’ll actually stand side by side in the queue and once the doors open, one person walks behind the Lightcycle to board.

8. Don’t Forget to Refill Your Water Bottle at TRON

When you get off TRON Lightcycle Run, there are water fountains and a refillable water bottle station next to the bathrooms. This is a great place to refill and take a break if you feel a little queasy after riding.

9. Use Rider Switch at TRON Lightcycle Run

There is a minimum height requirement of 48 inches to ride TRON Lightcycle Run. If you have littles that don’t meet the height requirement or have kids too scared to ride TRON, use the Rider Switch (aka Child Swap) service.

An adult in the party can stay with the child not able to ride, while the rest of the group waits in line and rides. Then the rest of the party that stay can ride through the Lightning Lane once the first part of the party is finished.

Enjoy and have so much fun!
