Will TRON Lightcycle Run Make You Motion Sick?

TRON Lightcycle/Run is a new thrill ride coaster opening in Magic Kingdom Park in Disney World on April 3, 2023. The newest ride opening before that at Disney World was Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and that ride was making guests motion sick. So how does TRON Lightcycle Run compare? Here is a guide to motion sickness on TRON Lightcycle Run.

Tron Lightcycle Run Make You Motion Sick

TRON Lightcycle Run Motion Sickness Scale

On a scale of 1-10, I’d rate TRON Lightcycle Run a 5 on the motion sickness scale. I was more dizzy than queasy when I rode TRON 3 times.

Sitting in the front car of TRON Lightcycle Run made me a little more prone to motion sickness due to the increased intensity from the front. Compared to Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind though, TRON is more tame, doesn’t spin, and probably will not make you as sick.

I have seen my fair share of people throwing up when they got off of Cosmic Rewind.

However, now having ridden with more friends and family, TRON did make some of them sick. Not quite the ‘I’m gonna barf’ sick, but definitely, the ‘I feel so nauseous’ sick.

Tips to Avoid Being Motion Sick on TRON at Disney World

TRON Lightcycle Run is classified as a coaster, so if you get sick on any type of fast movement, then you may want to take dramamine. Here are my tips to help avoid being motion sick on TRON Lightcycle Run.

  • Sit towards the back.
  • Don’t look at the lights and graphics on the walls during the ride.
  • Breathe out as you launch and keep your eye on the track.
  • Take dramamine if that usually helps you on rides.

I thought the back lightcycles would be the fastest, because usually the back makes me most queasy. However, my whole party agreed the front was most intense. And when I say intense, I’m not talking Expedition Everest. It just adds some more speed especially as you launch and head up the first hill.

The good thing is TRON is smooth, so it’s not jerky like Space Mountain at Disney World. I can ride Space Mountain, but it’s not enjoyable for me anymore, because I just get beat up. There aren’t any drops worse than in that attraction.

The initial launch reminded me of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, and then you go up hill. In the front, I did feel the skin on my face flap in the wind.

Some turns may make your stomach drop a little bit, but it’s not the same as just dropping straight down, because the track turns. There were a couple of instances where I felt a little “floaty.” But TRON Lightcycle Run is over in 60 seconds, so you don’t have a lot of time to really dwell on being motion sick, because the ride’s over unlike Cosmic Rewind where you have time to really think about it and feel it.

Everyone reacts differently to rides. For reference I get the most motion sick on rides like Star Tours, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, and Flight of Passage. Cosmic Rewind does make me a little queasy.

Tron’s Lightcycle Run did not make me motion sick, it just gave me a little headache, but I think that was from trying to look at what was going on inside. The lights plus the speed just wasn’t a good combo for me.

When I looked straight ahead, it was better.

Overall, it’s really fun, and I liked it enough to keep riding again. But by my 3rd time, I was starting to feel it. If you like some thrill, give it a chance!
