Wondering when you can use the bathroom during Avatar: The Way of Water? At 3 hours and 12 minutes, not everyone will be able to hold their bladders for the entire film. Here are the best times to walk out during Avatar: The Way of Water and take a bathroom break (or run to the concession stand).
When Can You Go to the Bathroom During Avatar 2?
If you ask Director James Cameron when audiences can use the bathroom during Avatar 2, he says, “Any time they want.” In an interview, he jokingly says audiences can miss whatever, because they can see the scene they missed when they come see the film again.
If you subscribe to that theory, then yes, you can technically take a bathroom break whenever you want during Avatar: The Way of Water.
If you’re only going to see the film once, then here’s when you can pee during Avatar 2 The Way of Water.
- When the Reef people start to train Sully and his family to swim and use the water
- Right after Spider is kidnapped
- When Lo’ak starts to bond with the tulkun
- When they begin to hunt the whale-like tulkun
- At the beginning of the final battle scene on the boat
If you’re into the visuals more for Avatar 2, then enjoy all of the visual effects and take a potty break during the second half of the film. The battle scenes are long, and you’ll miss some fighting.
However, if you are more into action, then go to the bathroom during the first half of Avatar 2 when they are setting up the story and really get into the visuals of the water and the Reef People and their animals.
Why is Avatar 2 Over 3 Hours Long?
There’s a lot going on in Avatar: The Way of Water, and it’s almost like watching two or 3 different movies. James Cameron takes his time building worlds, but also wants you to linger on the visuals and get your 3D money’s worth.
Does it have to be over 3 hours? No, there are definitely moments you can miss and still understand what’s going on.
There are no end credit scenes, so you can leave as soon as the movie is over, but you can also stay for more visuals.
