The Woman Across the Street From the Girl in the Window Parents Guide
Anna (Kristen Bell) is still grieving years after the death of a loved one. And the way in which that death happened is highly unbelievable and gross. However, it’s also part of the beginning of the absurdity and ridicule over similar movies in the psychological thriller genre like The Girl on the Train, Gone Girl, and The Woman in the Window. After a handsome new neighbor moves in across the street, Anna thinks this could be her second chance at the perfect family…until she witnesses a murder watching from the window across the street. To get over her grief, she’s been mixing pills and alcohol and sometimes has hallucinations. So is she seeing things? Because nobody, including the police, believes that she witnessed a murder and thinks she’s crazy. Not only that, but she’s starting to become a suspect.

Is The Woman in the House Across the Street From the Girl in the Window Ok For Kids Under 17?
This murder mystery has a lot of mature content, but it’s not over-the-top scary as it spoofs some of the shows and movies that are similar, hence the incredibly long title. Some of the things that happen are so ridiculous, you can’t help but chuckle.
I’m unsure why they needed a gratuitous sex scene, maybe that’s part of the spoof? Also the language is excessive, so it’s not appropriate for children, but some teens may enjoy it if you’re ok with the content. Overall, the short (20-ish minute) episodes are what works and helps hold interest. I didn’t hate it, and it’s a pretty easy binge.
It could have been even crazier and more outlandish, but I appreciated that they held back a bit to not make the series a total joke. Kristen Bell is always a pleasure, and I even got a little Veronica Mars-ish sleuthing vibe. The twists weren’t particularly juicy, but overall The Woman in the House Across the Street From the Girl in the Window is a fun watch.
