Scream 6 is rated R for Bloody Violence, Strong Language, and Suggestive Material which means some content is not suitable for kids under 17.

Language in Scream VI

There is quite a bit of profanity including uses of f*ck, bi*ch, a**hole, sh*t, and uses of Deity including Jesus Christ and g-ddamn. There are also sexual words used like d*ck, c*ck, balls, whore, and slutty.

Violence: Is Scream 6 Too Scary for Kids?

Parents need to know that Scream 6 is bloodier, has more kills, and is more brutal than previous Scream movies. At one point I remember thinking how many times does it take to stab somebody before they die?

There are so many ways characters die, but some are very intense and brutal – stabbings through all different parts of bodies and with different objects, with gunshots, heads are bashed, characters fall off of buildings.

You can see many dead bodies and corpses. There is a lot of blood and blood spurts.

Mature Content: Is Scream VI Ok for Teens?

There is no nudity in Scream 6, but there is a lot of talk about sex. Also there is moaning and sexual noises. Characters kiss.

Characters drink alcohol and smoke pot at a party.

Is Scream 6 Appropriate for Kids Under 17?

In Scream VI you can expect a lot of killings, bloody gore, some alcohol and drug use, and profanity used by some of the characters. To sum it up, Scream 6 is not kid friendly for kids under 16.

However, if kids are fans of slasher movies and meta-horror flicks, or of the other Scream films, then they could probably be fine watching this depending if parents are ok with the content.

As far as storyline goes, don’t come for that and come for the kills if that’s what interests you. I missed the campy Scream vibe that I got from the last one, and they replaced it with savage and somewhat uncoordinated carnage. But props to Ghostface who can still scare the crap out of me after all these years.
