Wondering if Samaritan is ok for kids? If your kids or teens are fans of Sylvester Stallone, then they may want to watch. Overall, the film was pretty bland, but it’s Stallone and action, so it may be what you’re wanting. Here’s what parents need to know in this Samaritan Parents Guide.

Samaritan Parents Guide
Thirteen-year-old Sam Cleary (Javon “Wanna” Walton) suspects that his mysterious and reclusive neighbor Mr. Smith (Sylvester Stallone) is actually a legend hiding in plain sight. Twenty years ago, Granite City’s super-powered vigilante, Samaritan, was reported dead after a fiery warehouse battle with his rival, Nemesis. Most believe Samaritan perished in the fire, but some in the city, like Sam, have hope that he is still alive. With crime on the rise and the city on the brink of chaos, Sam makes it his mission to coax his neighbor out of hiding to save the city from ruin.
Why is Samaritan Rated PG-13?
Samaritan is rated PG-13 for strong language and violence which means some content may not be suitable for kids under 13.
Language
There is a lot of profanity in Samaritan, especially for a PG-13 movie. Some of the language includes, sh*t, bullsh*t, sh*thead, f*ck, bit*h, damn, hell, pu**y, and words of Deity including at least 11 uses of g-ddamn.
Mature Content
There is quite a bit of violent content in Samaritan including:
Some older kids convince a younger kid to help them rob a convenience store.
Older kids chase a younger kid and beat him up (punching and kicking)
And older man beats up a gang of youth beating a younger child. The youth use knives and broken bottles as weapons.
A character is killed using an explosive device.
A man is hit by a car. Body is shown with bones/joints out of place (not bloody)
There is a scene with bones cracking that is similar in sound and sight to Stranger Things.
There is a larger fight scene where characters are shot, stabbed, etc., but nothing overly graphic.
The finale fight scene includes lots of shooting, stabbing, explosions, fire, death and destruction. Not super graphic, but very chaotic and quite ridiculous.
Is Samaritan Appropriate for Kids Under 13?
In Samaritan you can expect to see a lot of fighting and violent scenes and heavy profanity used by some of the characters. However, there is no sexual content. To sum it up, Samaritan is not kid-friendly for younger viewers, but could probably be ok for kids 13 and up if they are Stallone fans and are used to Stallone action movies.
For a Prime Video movie, it’s decent, but it’s predictable and you know what to expect. So if you don’t like surprises, then you’re good to go with Samaritan. There was one plot twist that if explored more could have made the movie more interesting, but alas it came and went.
