10 New Things About Star Wars Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker

I’m currently at Star Wars Celebration 2019 in Chicago, and the energy is high!! One of the most highly coveted panels was the Star Wars: Episode IX Panel, and I was in the room where it happened! Here’s all the new information we found out about Star Wars: Episode IX panel like the Star Wars: Episode IX title, trailer, characters and more!

Star Wars Episode 9 Title

The Star Wars: Episode IX Panel at Star Wars Celebration was narrated by Stephen Colbert. He was perfection. However we had to wait to the end to find out what we were all waiting for. The title!!

When that title came up on the screen at the end of the Star Wars: Episode IX trailer, EVERYONE was screaming! Star Wars Episode 9 is titled Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. 

There had been rumors of different titles floating around, but I don’t think I saw this one.

The new Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker teaser trailer definitely got the fans riled up!! From Rey being a bad-A like she is, Kylo Ren fighting, the gang back together, and then Emperor Palpatine laughing at the end; it was too much!

Then the lights come on a little bit, we see Ian McDiarmid on stage and in his Emperor voice says, “Roll it again.” And we watched the trailer again!!! This was my favorite moment. You guys, it doesn’t get any better than this.

10 New Things I learned About Star Wars Episode 9

We heard from JJ Abrams, Kathleen Kennedy, and much of the cast of Star Wars Episode 9 at Star Wars Celebration. Here’s some of the main things I learned about Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

• Some time has passed between the end of Episode VIII and Episode IX. But this is an adventure many of our favorites go on together – like Rey, Finn, Poe, Chewbacca, and more.
• Lando is back! Billy Dee Williams in his Lando cape is glorious. “Lando never left me,” said Billy Dee Williams.
• There’s a new character named Jannah played by Naomi Ackie. Stephen Colbert asked her is she was Lando’s daughter. Naomi replied, “Lando is a very charming man, so he could have children all over the universe.”
• They do not CGI Princess Leia. JJ Abrams confirms that what you see of Carrie Fisher is real footage of her filmed previously.
• Emperor Palpatine is back!! 
• Daisy Ridley confirmed that Luke’s lightsaber lives!!!
• Finn is single and ready to mingle, says John Boyega. So don’t look for a Finn/Rose Romance.
• Sorry, Kylo fans. Daisy Ridley said there are no shirtless Kylo scenes.
• There’s a new droid in town – D-O is a friend of BB-8.
• “But Phasma? She dead.” John Boyega confirms his emotional closure that Captain Phasma is really dead. My daughter will be so disappointed.

I can’t wait to see this movie! It was unreal to be in the room where it happened. Star Wars fans are truly some of the best fans in the galaxy!

I’ll have to share all my pictures later, but being here was magical. I was crying, I was laughing, I was dancing, I was cheering. It was one of the best moments ever! 

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is in theaters December 20, 2019!!
