Mini King Cake Bites Recipe for Mardi Gras

King Cake is one of the best traditions and desserts of Mardi Gras, because cake! I learned all about the baby in King Cake during my family friendly Mardi Gras in Lake Charles, LA. Now you can make your own Mini King Cake Bites in less than 20 minutes and celebrate Mardi Gras in style at home. You can even hide a tiny plastic baby in one of the King Cake Bites and see who gets it, but just let people know, so they don’t eat it in one bite!

Mini King Cake Bites 

These easy Mini King Cake Bites are fun for kids to help prepare and decorate! There are so many flavors you can make, but this King Cake Bites recipe contains pecans. Grab some beads and let the party begin!

Total Time: 17 min 

Yield: 8-10 King Cake Bites

INGREDIENTS

1 tube refrigerated crescent rolls

3 tbsp. cinnamon 

3 tbsp. granulated sugar 

½ cup finely chopped pecans 

purple, green and yellow decorator sugars

Glaze for King Cake Bites

1 cup powdered sugar 

2 tbsp. milk 

(for more adult King Cake Bites, you can substitute milk for 2 tbsp rum)

INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. 

Unroll crescent rolls and place on the cutting board.   

Gather the crescent dough and knead it together into one dough ball. 

Place flour on the cutting board and spread it evenly. 

Place the dough on the cutting board and begin to roll the dough out into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick. 

Slice 4-5 inches in length and 3 inches in width.

In a small bowl add the cinnamon and sugar stir to combine.  

Sprinkle each rectangle evenly with about 1 ½ teaspoons cinnamon sugar and 1 tablespoon of the pecans. 

Starting at long end, roll up jelly roll style pinching seam well.

Repeat with each rectangle. 

Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 – 12 minutes, until golden. 

Remove pans to the cooling rack. 

To make glaze:

Combine glaze ingredients in a bowl until drizzling consistency. 

Pour the glaze on top of the bites. 

Then sprinkle them with purple, green and yellow decorator sugars.
