It’s funny to actually type these words – my night at Solo: A Star Wars Story World Premiere and Red Carpet. I would never have thought it a possibility as a young Star Wars fan. You dream about it, and my dreams came true. As part of the #HanSoloEvent, we were invited not only to the Han Solo movie world premiere but also the Solo: A Star Wars Story after party where I literally was less than 10 feet from stars such as Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson, Alden Ehrenreich, Mark Hamill, Paul Bettany, and Disney CEO, Bob Iger.
Thank you, Disney, for inviting me to the Han Solo Event and providing travel and accommodations. All opinions on dreams coming true and regrets about not asking Mark Hamill for a picture are my own.
Solo: A Star Wars Story World Premiere
The red carpet is often a fast and furious experience. They like to keep you moving as you try to get a glimpse of your favorite actors on the “real red carpet.” On one side is where the stars and talent go to get interviews and pictures. On the other side is where people like me get to take pictures very quickly and hope nobody photobombs you.
On our way in I walked behind David Alan Grier (Any In Living Color fans out there?) and the fangirling had begun. We saw George Lucas on the carpet as we strolled down the lane. That boy looking at George Lucas in the picture is all of us.
They even had a Millennium Falcon set up in the middle of everything! Star Wars movies really go all out.
I also saw stars like Witney Carson from Dancing With the Stars. My friend saw Jon Heder of Napoleon Dynamite fame. I was bummed not to see him, because I went to college with him, and it would have been fun to say hello. You never know who you’ll catch on the red carpet.
Solo: A Star Wars Story Cast and Talent Photos
Like the Avengers: Infinity War Red Carpet Premiere, there were several theaters where you could watch the movie. We were slated to watch at the Dolby where the stars and talent from Solo: A Star Wars Story were watching!
Here are some of the pictures from Disney of the stars from the #HanSolo premiere!
We saw most of the major stars of the film walk into the Dolby right before the movie started, and it was amazing to see everyone clap and cheer as they walked to their seats. The energy was electrifying.
Solo: A Star Wars Story World Premiere After Party
After the film screening (it was awesome!), we were able to attend the Solo: A Star Wars Story after party. Most everyone was there except Donald Glover. I’m the worst at asking celebrities for selfies or pictures, and while everyone was kind and gracious, I couldn’t do it.
My big regret is not asking Mark Hamill for a photo. When I walked by him, he was talking to Ewan McGregor. Are you kidding me? I’m not interrupting Obi-Wan Kenobi talking to Luke Skywalker.
Then other friends showed me their pictures with Mark Hamill and told how incredibly nice and friendly he was. I should have gone back to ask. How do you pass up a picture with Luke Skywalker? But I did notice I’m in the background of one of my friend’s Mark Hamill selfies, so that totally counts.
What a fabulous night! To be so close to Emilia Clarke, Paul Bettany and Alden Ehrenreich, too, was incredible. These stars really are more beautiful and handsome in person. My feet were killing me by the end of the night, but I don’t care, because it was totally worth it.
Solo: A Star Wars Story is in theaters May 25th! You’re not going to want to miss this epic tale of young Han Solo!
