2024 Oogie Boogie Party Dates and Planning

Oogie Boogie Bash is from 6 pm to 11 pm in Disney California Adventure. However, you can enter DCA at 3 pm with your Oogie Boogie Bash party ticket. You can start getting your party wristbands at that time inside the park as well.

They have Oogie Boogie wristband distribution at the front of California Adventure as well as inside the park between the entrance to Avengers Campus and Cars Land. That way if you have a day pass already to California, you don’t have to return to the front if you don’t want.

You can also get your wristband, candy bag, and map in the back entrances to California Adventure if you’re guests of Disneyland Resort hotels.

You’ll need your wristband for all party events and attractions.

Oogie Boogie Bash Treat Trails

In 2024, there are 12 treat trails at Oogie Boogie Bash. Three of these treat trails do not have characters – the one by World of Color, one in Cars Land, and one at the entrance of California Adventure on Buena Vista Street.

Here are the 9 character treat trails at Oogie Boogie Bash 2024:

  • Hades (Hercules) – Hollywood Backlot Stage in Hollywood Land
  • Dr. Doofenshmirtz (Phineas and Ferb) – Disney Theater in Hollywood Land
  • Madam Mim – Bountiful Valley Hideaway
  • Oogie Boogie – Animation Building lobby
  • Ernesto de la Cruz (Coco) – Queue area next to Hyperion Theater
  • Sid from Toy Story – Bandstand in Pixar Pier

At the beginning of the night, the treat trail lines can be long, but they move. Some take about 15 minutes. If you want to go through them more quickly, I’d save them for a little later in the evening.

This year in the treat trails, they give out Mars brand candy bars as well as Goldfish, carrots, fig bars, Craisins, and Rice Krispies treats.

It’s so fun to see the villains while trick or treating.

Many of these characters interchange with other characters throughout the night, so check with the character handler if they’ll be leaving soon if you have your heart set on a certain character.

Entertainment at Oogie Boogie Bash

Headless Horseman Rides Again & Frightfully Fun Parade performs twice during the party at 7:45 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. The parade begins in Paradise Gardens park and ends in Hollywood Land. So if you decide to wait for the parade closer to Carthay Circle or Hollywood Land, it usually takes about 30 minutes to get there.

If seeing the Headless Horseman is important to you, don’t be late as he starts things off.

Some say the 2nd parade is less crowded, but they both looked equally busy during our party date in August. If you want a front row view, then stake out your spot early.

Villains Grove

Villains Grove opens at dusk, so around 8 pm. It’s located in the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. Disney describes it as a scenescape inspired some favorite Disney Villains.

I guess it was kind of cool, but if I had to skip anything, it would be Villains Grove. It’s the closest activity you’ll get to being spooky, but there are no actual villains in Villains Grove. There are projections and lights and music for ambiance.

Is Oogie Boogie Bash Worth It?

Oogie Boogie Bash is pretty pricey. However, if you love Halloween, villains, and candy, then this party is a lot of fun! There’s not a lot of entertainment to disperse the crowds like at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. What sets it apart from the Halloween Party at Walt Disney World are the treat trails!

Adding villains and interaction while trick-or-treating and having multiple candy stops along the trail is genius. We were about to do all the treat trails, get pictures with the Sanderson Sisters, Bruno, Edna Mode, and Tow Mater. We also watched the parade (three rows back), walked Villains Grove, and rode Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters After Dark, Tow Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree, and Radiator Springs Racers.

As something new, Oogie Boogie Bash was definitely worth it! However, unless changes were made each year, it’s not a party I feel like I’d have to do every year at this price point.
