The last time we saw Agatha Harkness was in WandaVision, back in 2021. Now her story continues after her matchup with Wanda aka Scarlet Witch. Is Agatha All Along kid friendly? Parents should know there is some random nudity, strong language, and witchcraft. This Agatha All Along Parents Guide includes a breakdown of language and mature content.
Agatha All Along Parents Guide
We’re back in Westview where nosy neighbor Agnes is again Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn). She finds herself out of powers after Scarlet Witch had absorbed them and wiped her memory. But a teen helps break her free from that distorted spell. He begs her to take him on the legendary Witches’ Road, a magical gauntlet of trials that, if survived, rewards a witch with what they’re missing. However, if they fail, then they wind up dead. Agatha and this teen form an unenthusiastic coven to go down that road.
Agatha All Along Age Rating
Why is Agatha All Along rated TV-14? For language, partial nudity, and violence.
Language
In the first episodes of Agatha All Along, you can hear some language including uses of b*tch and phrases like “eat my a**.”
Violence and Mature Content
The first episode involves an investigation of a murder and you can see a dead body on the ground.
Surprisingly there is some nudity in Agatha All Along. Agatha is naked and her hair covers her boobs. She goes into the street naked and talks to neighbors. Some have to avert their eyes. When she turns around you see her naked backside including her butt.
A teen is tied up in a closet.
There is a fight scene involving two witches and one licks the blood of the other’s hand.
The overall tone of the show is dark with violence, but it’s not bloody or gory. The comedy breaks up some of that darkness. Witchcraft and spells are prevalent themes.
Is Agatha All Along Appropriate for Kids Under 13?
Agatha All Along is a slow burn, much like WandaVision was. However, without Wanda or the stakes that she offers, the show is dull. Agnes was a hoot and a fan favorite in WandaVision. Kathryn Hahn is still fantastic, and can change voices, movements, facial expressions seamlessly, but her character is underwhelming in this series.
Will kids under 13 even care about this show? Maybe if they’ve seen WandaVision or if they like shows about witches. It feels as if Marvel is moving in a more mature direction, perhaps targeting older audiences. This show would fit the more mature crowd due to storyline and topics. The desperation of a nude backside for laughs just seems cheap. I felt the same in Thor: Love and Thunder.
Part of the problem is Marvel waits too long to release shows like this. It’s not good enough to stand alone and old fans have lost interest. Right now, it’s not funny enough, scary enough, witty enough, or different enough to have me care about this coven.
I still have hopes Agatha All Along will put a spell on me to become interested, because right now I’m bored. There is too much talent on screen for this to move along so slowly. Agatha deserves better.
