Parents Guide to Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024)

Snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers, young Furiosa falls into the hands of a great biker horde led by the warlord Dementus (Chris Hemsworth). Sweeping through the Wasteland, they come across the Citadel, presided over by the Immortan Joe. As the two tyrants fight for dominance, Furiosa (Anya Taylor-Joy) soon finds herself in a nonstop battle to make her way home.

Parents need to know that Furiosa is violent and not appropriate for young kids.

Age Rating: Why is Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga Rated R?

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is Rated R for “language, strong violence and grisly images” which means some content may not be appropriate for kids under 17 years old.

Language

Furiosa is mild in language for a rated R movie, but you will hear words like hell, bastard, tits, testes, and piss.

Violence: Is Furiosa Kid Friendly?

Most of your R rating comes from violence in Furiosa, and warning: there is a constant violence throughout the film. Expect scenes of fighting, explosions, torture, hand-to-hand combat, death, and use of many weapons. There are bloody and gross images of shootings, mutilations, cooked human flesh, and decomposing bodies. Also expect jump scares, kidnappings, and hangings. Furiosa is for mature audiences only.

Mature Content

There is no nudity in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, but there is sexual innuendo and conversation. Paintings show bare breasts and nipples. A male character is seen touching his own nipples. Some female characters are referred to as the wives and are shown wearing revealing gowns.

A character’s children are called “Rictus Erectus” and “Scrotus.”

Is Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga Appropriate for Kids Under 17?

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is recommended for mature audiences only and is not for kids under 16 years old. While some children younger than that may be able to handle more violence than others, that is up to a parent’s discretion.

While a good summer blockbuster for adults, there is too much violence for younger kids. While Fury Road is a better film, Furiosa still delivers the adrenaline rush.
