Is F9: The Fast Saga Kid Friendly? Parents Guide

Wondering if Fast and Furious 9 is ok for kids? F9: The Fast Saga is rated PG-13 for language and violence. Is Fast and Furious 9 kid friendly? It is more ridiculous and action-packed, but expect more of the same from the franchise. Here’s what parents need to know in this F9: The Fast Saga Parents Guide.

Dom (Vin Diesel) and Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) are finally settled and living a somewhat peaceful life. However, Dom is pulled in for “one last job/ride” of course. Dom’s also been keeping a secret – he has a brother, Jakob (John Cena). Jakob threatens Dom and his family, making him atone for his past and turning his back on him. Dom will need his crew to help save the ones he loves.

If you’re a fan of the franchise, I don’t expect you’ll stop being a fan after this installment. Much of the same successful formula is used – fast cars, scantily clad women, speeches about family, and Dom being sentimental.

F9 Age Rating

Why is F9 rated PG-13? The usual language and violence. Luckily there’s nothing over-the-top sexual in Fast and Furious 9 for the kiddos.

Language

There is profanity in F9 including sh*t, a**, a**hole, damn, hell, and bit*h. There are also words of Deity.

Mature Content

There is a lot of violence in F9, but some of it so outlandish, it’s hard to take seriously. However, there is a lot of fighting, explosions, shootings, and destruction. There is also hand-to-hand combat, some involving swords.

Some characters die in explosions and a child watches their parent die.

There is some kissing and women dancing in sexy clothing. Also a joke with a sexual innuendo is made.

Some characters drink alcohol.

Some song lyrics reference sex and drugs.

Is F9 Appropriate For Kids Under 13?

For Fast and Furious fans, I guess the saying goes, “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.” F9 gives fans more of the same and the formula works. But remember when Fast and Furious was about driving fast cars? It seems as though these films have turned into spy movies, especially with Hobbs & Shaw

If your kids have seen the other Fast and Furious movies, there’s nothing more to dissuade them from seeing this one. Just be wary of those who have lost a parent, as some scenes could be very emotional for them. I’d recommend F9 for kids ages 13 and up.

The cold-hearted, Cypher (Charlize Theron) is back, and she’s teamed up with Dom’s brother. Sometimes you just have to love the bad ones, because they are so good at what they do. Cypher adds charisma and shade when Dom gets a little dull. Fans will even see some old favorites return.

Director Justin Lin is back and is often credited with resurrecting the franchise from the dead. F9 just may be the craziest Fast and Furious movie yet. At 2 1/2 hours long (too long), a writer must have been like, “But wait we could do this.” Then it became a competition to see who could think of the most asinine thing they could do with a car, and they stuck all of the ideas in the film.

F9 stays in its lane, even if that lane is all over the place. This one’s for the fans, and I can appreciate that. I’m not really a fan, but I can understand why you would be. It’s all about family, after all.

It’s also one of those movies where you walk out saying “this movie is so dumb,” laugh, and leave completely entertained.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll stick to my Marvel ridiculousness where heroes are pumped with super serum.

Also wondering if Gods name is used with d***. If so where in the movie is it. Would love to watch but skip the insulting parts.
