Totchos are a thing. What are totchos, you ask? It’s like tater tots and nachos had a love child. We discovered them at Disney Social Media Moms in 2014 and have been making them at home ever since. Check out our Disney Totchos Recipe. They’re great as an appetizer, a snack, a meal, or to serve at parties.
The Story of Disney Totchos
I mentioned we discovered totchos at Disney Social Media Moms in Disneyland. They had a tasting party of different dishes, and my husband instantly fell in love. And he doesn’t often fall for foods like I do. My friend, Amiyrah, even started to call him ‘Totchos’ as a nickname, because I’m pretty sure he took her husband’s totchos at the event.
Then the love continues to when I surprised my husband for Father’s Day at Disney World by having Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort make his favorite dish, even though it wasn’t on the menu. The totchos love is strong.
Now you can make Totchos at home for your family! The thing I love about this recipe, is that it’s easy, kids can make it, and you can customize it however you want, but the cheese, the cheese is important.
Loaded Tater Tots
First you need tater tots. Does anyone else say, “Hey Napoleon, give me some of your tots,” when making tater tots? It can’t be just me!
Next load all your favorite toppings on your tater tots! The “official” Disney totchos called for pico de gallo, nacho cheese sauce, green onions, and pickled jalapeños. We’ve added a few more ingredients to ours.
We added bacon and sour cream, and if we’re in a time crunch, we’ll substitute pico de gallo for salsa. I cook bacon strips and then use a pizza cutter to quickly cut them into bits. Also the cheese makes the totchos! I love Ricos Cheese Sauces, and my husband loves Nacho Cheese, but you can easily substitute with shredded cheese or whichever you prefer.
We used Ricos Cheddar Cheese Sauce for this recipe for the kids, but my husband’s favorite is Ricos Gourmet Nacho Cheese Sauce, and my fave is Ricos Queso Blanco Cheese Sauce. It reminds me of when I lived in Ecuador and ate all the queso blanco. You can also make a Totchos Bar for a party or gathering and have your guest choose what cheese and toppings they want!
And have you heard the news that they are now serving loaded tater tots at Friar’s Nook in Magic Kingdom Park? I mean, I don’t want to take credit, but I did bring this awesome recipe to the attention of the Grand Floridian 😉 They even have several varieties of Totchos at Friar’s Nook.
AND they even added Totchos at Woody’s Lunch Box in Toy Story Land. I’m telling you, the Disney Totchos trend isn’t stopping anytime soon. You can literally pile what you want on tater tots. This was just the OG recipe.
So what are you waiting for? You can add Disney magic to your home with these amazing Disney Totchos! They’re so delicious, and have become a part of our family’s story. If you want more copycat Disney recipes, try the Fruit and Nutella Waffle Sandwich from Sleepy Hollow.

What a quick and fun recipe! Cannot wait to give it a try. My favorite is their Cheddar Cheese sauce, although the Queso Blanco is pretty tasty, too!
