Wondering if Anyone But You is ok for kids? It’s not. Another formulaic raunchy rom-com for 2023, adults may find it humorous, but I recommend skipping it for tweens and teens. Here’s what parents need to know in this Anyone But You Parents Guide Review.
Anyone But You Parents Guide
In the edgy comedy Anyone But You, Bea (Sydney Sweeney) and Ben (Glen Powell) look like the perfect couple, but after an amazing first date, they ghost each other and frankly, hate each other. They then meet up again when Bea’s sister and Ben’s friend are dating, and then are getting married! They are thrust together at a destination wedding in Australia and pretend to be a couple to make other exes jealous. What could go wrong?

Language
There is a lot of profanity in Anyone But You including over 30 uses of the f-word, f*cking, mother f*ckers, f-boy… I stopped counting after that. You can also expect to hear uses of b*tch, sh*t, a**, a**hole, dick, and words of Deity like Jesus Christ, and g-ddammit.
Mature Content: Is Anyone But You Ok for Teens?
There is male and female nudity in Anyone But You as well as sex scenes and sexual innuendos. A lot of the nudity is used for comedic purposes, including a male being completely naked but cups the front genitals, so you can’t see them. One scene also shows the tip of a penis.
A female is shown topless at the beach. There is passionate kissing with same sex and opposite sex partners. A couple is shown having sex with some nudity as well as some side boob during a steamy shower scene. A character takes off her dress to put out a fire and is shown in her bra and underwear.
Characters put their hands down their partners pants and rub their butts.
A female is shown on top of a male in an airplane while thrusting back and forth. The man is asleep and fully clothes and is used for comedy.
Characters are shown smoking, drinking alcohol, and using substances.
Is Anyone But You Appropriate for Kids Under 16?
You can expect sexual innuendos and situations, graphic nudity, and profanity used by some of the characters. in To sum it up, Anyone But You is not kid friendly for kids under 16 years old.
Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell are both great actors, however it doesn’t show in this film. Their chemistry is off and it’s just trying so hard, the jokes rarely land. I like cheesy, I like corny, I like romance. But this one, unfortunately, was a big miss.
None of the relationships seemed believable and when you have to resort to nudity for laughs, then that’s usually the sign of a weak script. Gags seemed forced and character storylines incomplete. I’ve been waiting for a really great rom-com in 2023 to come along, and sadly, this wasn’t it.
The shots of Australia were lovely though.
Some will think Anyone But You is adorable and funny, and I’m happy for them. I’ll just be over here wondering how two very attractive people did not click on screen.
