Summer Ice Cream Party Ideas

School is just about to end here, and I’m trying to schedule enough fun for my kids without going over the top. Ain’t nobody got time for that. However, everyone in my family loves ice cream, so grab some friends and neighbors this summer and have an outdoor ice cream party! Here are some easy and fun ice cream party ideas for your next summer get together.

Summer Ice Cream Party Ideas

In the summer, I need simple. I’m already trying to handle 5 kids being home with different schedules and interests. However from my teen to 6-year-old, they all love parties, and they all love hanging out with their friends.

Since it’s hot in the summer, an ice cream party will cool these kids down. And I love the idea of an outdoor party, because ice cream melts, and I’m better with it melting outside.

This is great to get to know your neighbors, too. In the summer, kids are always running around the neighborhood, and it’s one of the times it feels like there are no social standings like during the school year.

I’m not sure what else can bring people together like ice cream. Maybe world peace, but ice cream ranks up there. To say goodbye to friends at the end of the school year and to say hello to new ones, an ice cream party is perfect.

I like simple and inexpensive. So let’s have a backyard ice cream party! You know the casual, fun types where shoes are optional and laughs are mandatory.

If you want to do invites, you can do word of mouth, texting, paper invites, or electronic. I usually go straight to Evite. It’s simple to use, and I can always find something to fit with my theme. It’s also easy to keep track of attendees that way.

DIY Ice Cream Stand

Many people already have lemonade stands. If you have a kick-butt friend like Sarah with an amazing lemonade stand, then definitely use that one. Turn your lemonade stand into an ice cream stand. You get to pay your employees in ice cream.

Grab some pom poms, cute decorations, fun ice cream bowls and have the kids make signs. Ta-da! Ice cream stand. They wanted to charge money, but we had to remind them it was a party, not a business venture today.

You can also turn a table into an ice cream stand by doing the same things. Add a few decorations. Set out the ice cream and toppings. Make signs. Anything can be turned into an ice cream stand if you don’t have an awesome friend who lets you borrow hers.

Fun Summer Games

Even though the ice cream sundaes were the star of the party, we also needed some entertainment. Never underestimate the power of bubbles and sidewalk chalk. Two of our favorite summer activities. A lot of hands and feet helped in the production of this ice cream sundae.

Also if it’s hot outside, don’t be afraid to involve the hose or sprinklers. My kids love getting wet! You can also involve tie dying shirts with kids if you’re super adventurous. Or leave that for another day.

The screams for ice cream from the attendees were actually a delightful summer sound! Satisfied customers, smiles, and memories are what our summers are made of.

I love the ibotta app! Free money! And, I never really thought about the packaging but I DO like the clear containers.
