Will Poulter plays Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Will’s role was a little different than the Adam Warlock we’ve seen in the comics. Fans have been clamoring for Adam Warlock to make an appearance on the big screen.
In the film they explain that Adam was born too early, so his character is a bit immature and reckless. He sometimes acts like a child. During the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 press junket, we learn more about how Will relates to Adam Warlock.

Will was the new kid on set and new to the MCU. In fact, his parents had never seen any of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies until he got the part. He comes from a family of doctors, nurses, and medical professionals, so moderator Nathan Fillion joked that he was the disappointment of the family. But Will said they’re real superheroes and now he was playing one.
Will said he was able to find a parallel between his character and his own experience, which was interesting. He was the new kid on the block arriving to the set very much like how Adam Warlock was kind of arriving into the world. They were both trying to find their way and work out the rules.
In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Adam certainly was trying to find his way, but he was often told what to do by The High Evolutionary, the villain with a God complex.
Will was also asked about the biggest challenge in playing Adam Warlock, but Nathan answered, “Probably the makeup.”
Will expressed his gratitude for all the kindness he was shown on set. He said something he thought was gonna be really scary actually turned out just being really good fun. He attributes that to James Gunn making “a point of making set a really fun
environment and then surrounds himself with really great people.” Everyone made me him feel very welcome.
The wait is finally over to see Adam Warlock on the big screen in a Marvel movie! Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is in theaters May 5, 2023!
