Wondering if The Holiday is ok for kids? It’s a fun holiday movie, but I wouldn’t recommend it for the kiddos. The Holiday starring Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, and Jude Law is more appropriate for teens, but even then there are some things to watch for. Here’s what parents need to know in The Holiday Parents Guide.

The Holiday Parents Guide
Iris (Kate Winslet) and Amanda (Cameron Diaz) are two women who have their own separate guy troubles. One is in love with another woman’s fiance and the other has a cheating boyfriend. They both need a vacation, so they decide to swap houses (in different countries) and find unexpected love with local guys.
The Holiday was released in 2006, but always remains on some of the top holiday movie lists.
Age Rating: Why is The Holiday Rated PG-13?
The Holiday is rated PG-13 for sexual content and some strong language according to the MPAA which means some content may not be suitable for kids under 13.
Language in The Holiday
There are some uses of profanity including a few uses of sh*t, a**, bit*h, and one use of f*ck. There are also uses of “oh my g-d.” Some sexual words like balls, ballbusters, shag, boobs, and prick are also heard.
Mature Content: Is The Holiday OK for Teens?
There is some sexual content including kissing and sexual relations. There is no nudity, though you see people in bed and a female in a bra. There are also several conversations about sex during the movie. One character is accused of cheating and another throws a shoe at him.
One character talks about contemplating suicide. Another character is a widower, so it may be hard for kids who have lost a parent.
Characters drink alcohol to the point of being drunk.

Is The Holiday Appropriate For Kids Under 13?
In The Holiday you can expect some sexual content, alcohol use, and profanity used by some of the characters. To sum it up, The Holiday is not kid friendly for younger kids and tweens, but teens should be ok if parents are ok with the content.
The Holiday may not interest some teens, since the characters are older. The Holiday makes for a good Christmas rom-com, a guilty pleasure, especially if you’ve lost hope in love. I prefer it over Love Actually.
Add The Holiday to your Christmas list if you just want an entertaining night in and a heartwarming love story.
