Is HBO Max's Peacemaker Kid Friendly? Parents Guide

Wondering if Peacemaker on HBO Max is ok for kids? It’s not. Rated TV-MA for crude language, sexual content, nudity, and violence, Peacemaker is not kid friendly at all. Picking up where The Suicide Squad (2021) left off, Peacemaker (John Cena) returns home after recovering from his encounter with Bloodsport only to discover that his freedom comes at a price. Peacemaker gets an opportunity to stay out of prison from Mr. Murn by becoming a mercenary for Project Butterfly in which he is hired to kill entities with powers.

Why is Peacemaker Rated TV-MA?

Peacemaker is rated TV-MA for language, nudity, violence, and sexual content which means that some material is not suitable for children under the age of 18.

Language

Language and profanity is heavy in Peacemaker including many uses of fu*k, fu*king, a**, bit*h, sh*t, damn, g-ddamn, and every other word you can think of.

There are crude and sexual references about masturbation, cumming, orgies, oral and anal sex, and pornography. Words like c*nt and pu**y are used.

Mature Content

There is nudity including bare breasts, bare behinds, and a photo of a vagina. A man is seen thrusting behind a naked woman. Peacemaker includes full nudity.

There is alcohol and drug use.

There are also racial slurs and discriminatory comments against the LGBTQ community.

Violence

Peacemaker is full of gratuitous violence. There are gunfights, stabbings, killings, bodies explode, and characters are tortured. A character’s face gets blown off. Violence is on par with Suicide Squad.

Is Peacemaker Appropriate for Kids Under 18?

Peacemaker is not appropriate for kids or even teens. If you’re looking for that hard rated-R type of DC show, Peacemaker is it. Gratuitous violence, gratuitous sex, and raunchy jokes and humor are what this series has to offer. Also, be prepared for plenty of satire on toxic masculinity. And all of this is in the first 3 episodes.

James Gunn’s humor is not my style as he often relies on shock value. There is definitely an audience for Peacemaker, but kids are not mature enough for this series.
