Wondering if Only Murders in the Building Season 2 is ok for kids? Like Season 1, there’s language, obviously murder, and an ominous tone, and while this show may not be kid-friendly, the cast makes it a fun ride for adults. Here’s what parents need to know in this Season 2 Only Murders in the Building Parents Guide.
Only Murders in the Building Season 2 Parents Guide
At the end of Season 1, Oliver (Martin Short), Charles (Steve Martin), and Mabel (Selena Gomez) has just figured who murdered Tim Kono and saved the Arconia. However, their celebration was short-lived as Bunny was found murdered in Mabel’s apartment and she had blood all over her. All three are prime suspects. In order to clear their names, they’ll have to solve the murder themselves and obviously podcast about it.
Why is Only Murders in the Building Season 2 Rated TV-MA?
Only Murders in the Building Season 2 is rated TV-MA for strong language, suggestive material, and violence which means some content may not be suitable for kids under 17.
In season 3, you can expect to see some blood, alcohol and drug use, and profanity used by some of the characters. Only Murders in the Building season 3 is not kid-friendly. However, I recommend screening it ahead of time if you want to let tweens or teens watch it.
Language
There is a lot of language in Only Murders in the Building including frequent uses of fu*k and sh*t. There are also uses of a**, bi*ch, and g-ddamn.
Mature Content
Some scenes can be scary, especially with ominous music as there is a killer on the loose. There are jump scares. Characters are attacked and some close-up scenes of a murder can be triggering for some kids.
Sexual relations are implied between characters and another scene shows two females kissing.
There is a painting shown throughout the show with two naked people in it.
Some characters use alcohol and take drugs. There is also talk about porn for comedic use.
Is Only Murders in the Building Season 2 Appropriate for Kids Under 17?
If teens are fans of true crime podcasts, then they’d probably be ok watching Only Murders in the Building Season 2, especially if they’ve seen Season 1. A lot of the content is unnecessary, like some of the language or porn talk, because the writing is funny and witty without it.
The chemistry amongst the 3 main characters remains and carries Season 2. Some of the comedic elements are a little more far-fetched and can take detours in the 2nd season due to the addition of some new characters and tenants, but the sarcastic and dry humor still had me laughing.
We get some more back story on the tenants of The Arconia and why the building means so much to people. The investigation is one of the reasons why the first season was so successful. This season, it’s not exactly at the forefront nor as quick-paced, even making some of Only Murders podcast fans abandon ship for new podcasts.
While Season 2 is not as fresh or intriguing as Season 1, Only Murders in the Building still remains binge-worthy and one of the best comedies on television, thanks to its stellar cast.
