Hellraiser (2022) Parents Guide – Is it OK for Teens?

Wondering if Hellraiser is ok for kids and teens? You’re probably better off skipping this one. Not only is it scary, but there’s a lot of language and sex. Here’s what parents need to know in this Hellraiser Parents Guide.

Hellraiser Parents Guide

Hellraiser (2022) Parents Guide

A reinvention of Clive Barker’s 1987 horror classic from director David Bruckner in which a young woman struggling with addiction comes into possession of an ancient puzzle box, unaware that its purpose is to summon the Cenobites, a group of sadistic supernatural beings from another dimension.

Why is Hellraiser Rated R?

What is the age rating for Hellraiser? Hellraiser is rated R for violence and gore, horror, language, some sexual content, and brief graphic nudity. Basically it’s the whole R rated package.

Language

There is a lot of profanity in Hellraiser including uses of a**, sh*t, damn, a whole of uses of the f-word in different variations, and words of Deity like g-ddamn, and Jesus Christ.

Scary and Violent Content

Hellraiser is bloody, gory, and very violent. This one is not for kids or tweens at all. There are some jump scares, but mostly it’s just the graphic violence and bloodiness that brings it to a whole other creepy level. Skin is peeled off of bodies, there’s a lot of torture and victims. People are murdered and there are hooks and chains in people’s flesh and body parts.

Sexual Content

There are couples having sex in Hellraiser with one scene involving a naked man with his legs spread open. You can see a brief glimpse of a penis.

Is Hellraiser Appropriate for Kids Under 17?

It’s Halloween, and teens want to watch scary movies. Hellraiser is more sadistic than scary. You can expect to see graphic violence, horror elements, blood and gore, sex scenes and partial nudity, and characters using strong profanity. To sum it up, Hellraiser is not kid friendly nor is it appropriate for younger teens.

Parents know their kids best, and I recommend screening a film first if you have questions about the content and whether it’s appropriate for your kids. This list of Halloween movies for kids and teens may have some better options.
