The Best Order to Watch the Spider-Man Movies

Spider-Man: No Way Home is being released this week in theaters, which is the latest Spider-Man movie as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If you want to catch up on all things Spidey, here are the Spider-Man movies in order to watch before No Way Home comes out.

The Best Order to Watch the Spider-Man Movies

Just like how you prefer to watch Marvel movies in order, some people prefer different orders to watch the Spider-Man films. I’m a good ‘ol fashioned release order type of girl. Below is a list of the most recent Spider-Man movies in mostly release order with a few additions.

Spider-Man (2002)
Spider-Man 2 (2004)
Spider-Man 3 (2007)
The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)
Captain America: Civil War (2016)
Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)
Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019)
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, and Spider-Man 3 all feature Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man. What’s interesting is in the trailer for No Way Home, we see Alfred Molina reprise his role as Doc Ock, who supposedly died in Spider-Man 2. Does anyone really stay dead in the MCU?

Then comes Andrew Garfield in The Amazing Spider-Man films.

Spider-Man in the MCU

There are three movie titles in the list without Spider-Man in it. The introduction of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man into the MCU comes with Captain America: Civil War. You’ll want to watch to be introduced to that Spidey and how he gets in with the Avengers.

Spider-Man: Far From Home was the beginning of Phase 4 in the MCU showing the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame and now continues after several Marvel TV shows have set up different multiverses. The animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse introduces Miles Morales in his teen years and other important characters. Hopefully Miles makes an appearance in No Way Home.

If you have extra time and for extra credit, then you’ll also want to watch Venom and Venom 2. There will be an MCU crossover.

What Spider-Man Movies to Watch Before No Way Home

What Spider-Man movies should you watch before No Way Home? After watching Spider-Man: No Way Home, I would at least watch Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3, The Amazing Spider-Man, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 before watching No Way Home to keep up with all the villains and characters.
