Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde, everyone’s favorite animal duo, are back again and cracking cases. Is Zootopia 2 ok for kids? Although it does have some mature humor, Zootopia 2 is mostly kid friendly for all ages. This is the holiday movie for families. Here’s what parents need to know.

Rookie cops Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) haven’t been partners for very long, but already they are making a name for themselves…and not in a good way. After being ordered to go to partner therapy when a case gets out of control, Judy feels more than ever that they need to prove just how great of partners they really are. When she gets a feeling that snakes may have returned to Zootopia, she follows the clues to find out why. However, Nick isn’t so sure they should get involved.
Zootopia 2 Age Rating
Zootopia 2 is rated PG for rude humor and violence which means some content may not be suitable for all ages. Parental guidance is suggested.
Parents should know that Zootopia 2 does have some jokes aimed at adults, but will likely go over kids’ heads.
Language
There is no profanity, but there are words like idiot, dumb, heck and expressions like “oh pork!” There was also a use of “oh my g-d.” A joke about a dik-dik animal is repeated with a possible ‘dik pic’ phrase. But my ears could have deceived me.
Mature Content: Is Zootopia 2 too scary for kids?
There is a jump scare and some animal violence. An animal is stabbed in the neck. Animals are threatened with death. Cops shoot dart guns and there are police chases throughout the film. Characters are hit with frying pans and there is some physical comedy where harm is meant for laughs. Some characters are badly injured which could upset some younger viewers. Characters are seen in therapy.
There are some jokes with sexual innuendos and undertones.
Alcohol is served at a party.
Is Zootopia 2 Appropriate for Kids Under 8?
You can expect some cartoon violence, mature jokes, and lessons about equality and kindness. Zootopia 2 is ok for kids ages 6 and older. Some scenes may upset kids who don’t want to see some favorite characters hurt or sad. However, if they’ve seen Zootopia, then Zootopia 2 is less scary than the first.
Zootopia 2 is really funny and a fantastic sequel. The story makes sense and doesn’t feel like a money grab. Sure it can go off the rails at times, but that’s what make this franchise charming. A little bit of chaos, Nick’s witty sarcasm, and Judy’s overbearing, yet lovable personality.
Zootopia 2 introduces us to new worlds and characters with its incredible animation. And as always, it teaches us that good prevails. There’s always someone to risk it all so that animals can live in harmony. It also teaches that therapy can be beneficial for everybunny. We’re really not that different.
With a compelling mystery, humor for adults and kids, and a lot of heart, Zootopia 2 has it all for families.
