Wicked: For Good is the conclusion to the popular-oscious Wicked movie from 2024. Does it have the same magic? With darker themes and tones, the sequel is not as kid friendly as the first. Here’s what parents need to know in this Wicked 2 Parents Guide.

Wicked: For Good Parents Guide
In Wicked: For Good, Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo), now known as The Wicked Witch of the West, lives in exile, hidden within the Ozian forest while continuing her fight for the freedom of Oz’s silenced Animals and desperately trying to expose the truth she knows about The Wizard (Jeff Goldblum). Glinda (Ariana Grande), meanwhile, has become the symbol of Goodness for all of Oz, and lives at the palace in Emerald City. She revels in the popularity of it all.
Although Glinda’s life is just how she envisioned, especially since she is set to marry Fiyero, Glinda still feels unsettled and misses her friend, Elphaba. She attempts to unite Elphie and The Wizard, but those efforts fail after Elphaba is lied to once again.
As an angry mob rises against the Wicked Witch, Glinda must make her choice whether to stand with her friend or continue as the symbol of hope and goodness in Oz.
What is the Age Rating of Wicked Part 2?
Wicked: For Good is rated PG for suggestive material and action/violence which means some content may not be suitable for all ages. Parental guidance is suggested.
Parents should know that there is a sexually suggestive scene in Wicked: For Good, but there is no explicit nudity.
Language
There is no profanity in Wicked: For Good. A character says “shiz” when startled and another character says “my lord” in vain.
Mature Content: Is Wicked For Good Too Scary For Kids?
In one scene there is implied sex between two characters, but no nudity. You see characters start to undress as well as a shirtless male. There are a couple of passionate kisses and looks and it can get spicy.
There is some violence including two characters fighting and slapping each other. Much of the scene is comedy.
Some darker scenes include animals in cages, Elphaba casting spells that cause pain and anger, characters trying to kill others, and a mob going after Elphaba. Some characters die. Guns and swords are seen with a gun pointed at a popular character. Elphaba is constantly being called a wicked witch and propaganda is spread that she wants Oz to die.
Some characters are seen drinking alcohol.

Is Wicked For Good Appropriate for Kids Under 12?
You can expect a steamy scene, some kisses, dark and mature themes, and some violence. Wicked: For Good is kid friendly for kids ages 10 and older. If your kids have seen Wicked, then the violence is on par with the first film. The 2nd part is more emotional and doesn’t have as many flashy musical numbers to alleviate some of the heavy tones.
While Wicked: For Good doesn’t have the same pizazz and impact that Wicked did, it’s still a beautiful story of friendship and the bonds we create with people through good and bad. The two standout numbers for me were “For Good” and “No Good Deed.” The story gets a little muddled throughout the film and the pacing was off, but by the time we get to the conclusion, Erivo and Grande have left their marks. Not only do you see Elphaba’s and Glinda’s love for each other, but you can feel the genuine love between the actors.
Wicked was the glitz and pizzazz and Wicked: For Good is the heart. Just like some people come into our lives for a reason and teach us something, some movies do the same. Wicked: For Good teaches us just how powerful supportive friendships can be, even when they’re not perfect.
