Wondering is Season 3 of YOU on Netflix is ok for kids and teens? YOU is rated TV-MA for violence, sexual content, and language, so no, Joe hasn’t cleaned up his act. Here’s what parents need to know in this YOU Parents Guide.
Season 3 YOU Parents Guide
YOU picks up after in Season 2 Joe (Penn Badgley) finds out Love (Victoria Pedretti) is pregnant with his child and almost kills her. Instead, they get married and move to the suburbs with their baby where they vow to leave their pasts behind them. Joe does not want his child to go through what he went through. Love wants that perfect family and will not let Joe’s compulsiveness ruin it. However you know what happens when two psychos get together…
What is YOU Season 3 rated?
You is rated TV-MA on Netflix for sex, language, and violence, basically the trifecta of mature content. You is not kid friendly for kids nor most teens.
Language
YOU is full of profanity like f*ck, sh*t, damn, g-ddamn, bit*h, a**, and sexual words like c*nt, and dick. There are also words of Deity.
Mature Content
Sexual content in YOU includes masturbation and lots of sexual intercourse.
Joe and Love like to to murder people, so expect plenty of graphic violence in YOU. There are shootings, stabbings, and different weapons used to kill someone.
There is a scene involving suicide which is disturbing.
The show does get political and addresses anti-vaxxers in a negative way.
Characters use drugs and drink alcohol.
There are also scenes involving bullying, arson, and animal abuse.
Is Netflix’s YOU Appropriate for Kids Under 16?
Expect more of the crazy and gratuitous violence from Seasons 1 and 2 of YOU in Season 3. It seems as if this psychological thriller likes to push it more a little each season. Season 3 of YOU may be the wildest ride yet.
I don’t recommend YOU for any teens or kids, but if they’ve seen other seasons, then this one probably push them over the edge into turning into a serial killer. Let’s hope not anyway.
Admittedly, I don’t get the hype of shows like this or Squid Game, which perhaps have a message, but get there in a twisted way. Badgley and Pedretti are fantastic in their roles, and nobody can deny that, but how many seasons can you go with more of the same?
If you like dark shows, then Season 3 of YOU will keep you hanging on and give you binge-worthy entertainment. If not, might I suggest, Ted Lasso?
