Wondering if The Croods 2 is ok for kids? Finally another family movie has made it to theaters in 2020. Is The Croods: A New Age kid friendly? Rated PG for scary moments and rude humor, The Croods can sometimes be crude. Here’s what parents need to know in The Croods: A New Age Parents Guide.

Is The Croods: A New Age Kid Friendly?
In the sequel to The Croods, The Croods: A New Age finds the Crood family searching for a safer habitat and finds a walled-in paradise that meets all of its needs. However, they run into the Bettermans – a family whose arrogance and sophistication lends them to believe they’re better than The Croods.
Tensions between the new neighbors start to rise and a new threat soon propels both clans on an epic adventure that forces them to embrace their differences and survive together. Hijinks and tomfoolery ensue.
Here’s what parents need to know about The Croods 2.

Language
There is no profanity in The Croods 2, but there is potty humor and words like dumb, stupid, twits, and crotch. Words that little ones like to pick up and repeat around the house.
Mature Content
There are some scary situations and monsters that may frighten little kids. Some of the monkeys have glowing eyes and another monster tries to eat people.
There are characters that communicate by punching each other, and also humans punching animals. Overall, the violence is tame and some is meant to be humorous, but be careful with kids sensitive to animals being hurt.
One character acts drunk after getting stung by a bee.
A lot of the rude humor comes from the Neanderthal culture and man cave.
There is kissing and a focus on teen love. Some characters are shirtless.

Is The Croods: A New Age Appropriate for Kids Under 8?
If your kids were fans of the original The Croods, then expect much of the same. I would recommend The Croods 2 for kids ages 8 and up. The Croods: A New Age is mainly kid-friendly, but watch for behaviors that younger kids might want to imitate.
The Croods 2 is far superior in animation to the original and the visuals really are incredible. There are many lessons to talk about with your kids like friendship, teamwork, social norms, and frankly, the ridiculousness of thinking you’re better or worse than someone else. Plus I always appreciate the addition of some girl power in a film.
This isn’t the worst way to ease yourself or your family back into movies in the theater, but that could also be the desperation of movie theater popcorn talking.
