The Adventures of Rockford T. Honeypot Book Review and Kids Recipes

Looking for a great book for kids ages 8 to 13? Let me introduce you to The Adventures of Rockford T. Honeypot! Sure he’s a cute little chipmunk, but the lessons he’ll teach families are innumerable! This is a great book to kick off summer that the whole family can enjoy together. Author Josh Gottsegen really captures the essence of adventure.

The Adventures of Rockford T. Honeypot Book Review

We love stories about adventure and dreams in my family. So my 11-year-old instantly grabbed the book and wanted to read it and write a review. Here’s her summary and review:

In The Adventures of Rockford T. Honeypot, a wise, old chipmunk named Rockford T. Honeypot is telling his origin story to his great-grandson Theo, and other animals in the store. As a child he would get bullied by a neighbor, and even his own brothers.(His dad wasn’t that nice to him either.)

Kids his age were just learning how to count while he was figuring out very advanced math problems. He loved learning about the forest and really enjoyed reading books. His favorite book was The Adventures of Captain James T. Rockford and the book inspired him, and Rockford really wanted to be just like Captain James.

Rockford was scared of lots of bugs and germs but he discovered his “superpower” of running really fast. Then when Rockford turned 13, he took over their family business, CC&C (Clarence, Clarence & Clarence).  While his mother and father were on vacation, he accidentally set the business plummeting. His father was super mad and ashamed so he took his whole family except for Rockford, and moved away. After all this happened, Rockford decided that he was going to go on a huge adventure and started packing. 

Then he tells of all his incredible adventures including finding true love!

I think The Adventures Of Rockford T. Honeypot is a fantastic book. It’s actually really thrilling and exhilarating. Some of Rockford’s different adventures and crazy things got my heart racing! I also think it’s a really good book to learn some life lessons like to keep chasing your dreams and to keep going and never ever give up.  The Adventures of Rockford T. Honeypot is really inspiring to me! I really hope other people think that this book is just as amazing as I think it is.
