A journalist and podcaster from New York City attempts to solve the murder of a girl he hooked up with and travels down south to investigate the circumstances of her death and discover what happened to her. 

Why is Vengeance Rated R?

Vengeance is rated R for strong language and brief violence which means some content may not be suitable for kids under 17.

Language

There is a lot of profanity in Vengeance including uses of sh*t, damn, a**, a**hole, fu*k, and motherfu*ker.

Mature Content

There are references to sex and a scene showing a couple in bed after implied sex.

There is some violence including use of guns and shooting. Guns are essential to the community, where even children are seen handling guns. One scene involves a pretty intense bloody shootout. Another scene shows an explosion.

Characters use drugs and alcohol. One character dies of a drug overdose. 

Many stereotypes are portrayed in characters especially Mexicans and people in the south. A child is called “El Stupido” by his family.

Is Vengeance Appropriate for Kids Under 16?

Teens may want to watch Vengeance if they are fans of Novak’s and The Office. Vengeance provides social commentary and opportunities for discussion on teens about preconceived notions and stereotypes. However, with the drug use and gun violence,Vengeance is recommended for kids 16 years and older if parents are comfortable with the content. 

It is insightful, but younger tweens may not be comfortable or interested in the content.
