Is In Your Dreams Appropriate for Kids Under 10?

You can expect some rude humor from a sarcastic Baloney Tony and some dark, scary images for younger kids. Due to mature themes, In Your Dreams is kid friendly for ages 10 and older. Younger kids will also enjoy some of the hijinks and fun, bright dream sequences. You’ll even notice some Disney Easter eggs in there. However, parents should be aware of the sensitive material, especially for children of divorce.

In Your Dreams boasts fabulous visuals and emotional depth, tackling issues that are seemingly end of the world for children. It teaches them that perhaps their idea of perfection isn’t so perfect and adaptation is beautiful, too. We sometimes do use dreams to escape our reality when we should also try to find the joy in our reality. Kudos to Woo for his storytelling and creating a film where parents can have difficult conversations with kids in a safe space.

In Your Dreams could have pushed itself even harder. Some of the characters were not developed enough or could have been left out completely, i.e., the villains. It fell into some cliches when it didn’t have to and delving deeper into fears and nightmares would have been interesting to watch.

Fun and whimsy mixed with a heartfelt, emotional story make In Your Dreams another winner for Netflix animation.
