This may be the first reality/game show review I’ve done, but I’m happy to start with Floor is Lava on Netflix. Is Floor is Lava kid friendly? Yes! It’s a great binge for the whole family, though maybe turn off the closed captions if you don’t want young kids reading a swear word here and there. The Floor is Lava is a hybrid of Wipeout and Family Double Dare for adults. Netflix is genius for turning this childhood game into an obstacle course reality show.
Is Floor is Lava Kid Friendly?
Here’s how I discovered this show. It’s Father’s Day and my dad, husband, brother and 5 girls are laughing at some show on TV. I saunter in after cleaning the kitchen and think, no I’m not in the mood for this type of show. Episode 1 was not my favorite course, and then I was disappointed there was only one round. Then it grew on me, and I became an addict.
Here’s the premise to The Floor is Lava: An obstacle game show where 3 teams made up of 3 adults (don’t have to be related) compete for $10,000. Each team gets a point for every member of the team who finishes the course. If there’s a tie, then it’s the team with the fastest finish time.
So is Floor is Lava kid friendly? Yes! Floor is Lava is appropriate for kids. On occasion there will be a swear word and some adult-ish jokes from the host/narrator that will go over kids’ heads. But this is a fun show for the whole family!
What makes Floor is Lava so funny? I’m not sure. I almost feel bad for seeing people fall into the lava or being scared to swing from a chandelier onto a piece of furniture. It’s also the team dynamics that make it hilarious.
Floor is Lava is like American Ninja Warrior for those of use who have no hope of making it through the obstacle course on ANW. At times I thought, hmm, I can do this. P.S. The floor really isn’t lava, but you better act like it is.
The length of the show and the obstacles is perfect for kids, too. Not too long where they will get bored. Each episode I’m hooked, because I want to see who wins!
Mark down Floor is Lava for a summer binge, because it’s our family’s new favorite show. Forget new movies straight to video, give me more seasons of Floor is Lava, please.
