The chemistry amongst the cast of Disney’s Jungle Cruise is so delightful, even shining through Zoom during the Jungle Cruise press junket. It’s so wonderful to see a cast joke around together, being playful, and complimentary. Dwayne Johnson even referred to Emily Blunt as a female Indiana Jones.

However, she did try to ghost him at one point. Johnson was an immediate yes to the project. He saw the potential of the opportunity “to take a beloved and iconic Disney ride since 1955 when the park opened. This was Walt Disney’s baby. The next step after Jaume, finding our director, was finding my co-star. The female Indiana Jones over here.”
The funny thing is Emily Blunt totally ghosted Johnson. He had never met her before, and he really wanted her to know how excited he was to work with her. So he made her a video to send with the director when he went to hand-deliver the Jungle Cruise script to Blunt. Johnson said it was maybe 1 to 2 minutes long.
Blunt: “10 minutes long.”
Johnson: “It was 25 minutes long, guys.”
They bantered back and forth on how touched she was and how much she loved it, but he did come on a little too strong. Then she just never responded to the video.
I was dead during this exchange, laughing so hard. She even brought Jack Whitehall into the conversation, since he’s British. He knows! That’s just way too strong. Sorry, Dwayne.
Edgar Ramirez was also very complimentary towards Emily Blunt. He said it’s so difficult to capture “that tone, to be witty and romantic and funny and snide but cute at the same time.” It was just one big cast love fest!
This is one of the main reasons, amongst others, to watch the Jungle Cruise!
Another is for the funny Jungle Cruise Skipper quotes. If you’re a fan of the Disney ride, you won’t want to miss Skipper Frank’s puns.
Speaking of the ride…
I was a tad surprised to learn that Emily Blunt had just ridden Jungle Cruise for the first time at the premiere. And then I had to chuckle when Ramirez loved Johnson’s backside of water joke in the movie and said the Jungle Cruise Skipper on the ride also said the same joke when he rode for the first time 2 months ago.
For all of the Disney fans out there, Jungle Cruise did catch the spirit of silliness. Jack Whitehall said the things he likes best about the ride is that it doesn’t take itself too seriously. “That is definitely something that we took over into the movie. And it has such ambition and scale, and it’s beautiful, and the sets are incredible, and the set pieces and the action.”
Jungle Cruise is now in theaters and on Disney+ Premier Access.
