DC League of Super-Pets Parents Guide

In “DC League of Super-Pets,” Krypto (Dwayne Johnson) the Super-Dog and Superman (John Krasinski) are inseparable best friends, sharing the same superpowers and fighting crime in Metropolis side by side. They even watch the Great British Bake Off together every week. However, Superman starts to become distracted by Lois Lane and Superman starts flaking out on some of their BFF dates.

Krypto is hurt and doesn’t notice that Superman has been kidnapped, but once he realizes it, Krypto needs help to save his pal Superman and the rest of the Justice League. He gathers together some animals from the shelter – Ace (Kevin Hart) the hound, PB (Vanessa Bayer) the pot-bellied pig, Merton the turtle (Natasha Lyonne), and Chip (Diego Luna) the squirrel – who accidentally find themselves with newfound powers and has them help him rescue the superheroes.

Why is DC League of Super-Pets Rated PG?

DC League of Super-Pets is rated PG for rude humor, mild violence, language, and action which means some content may not be suitable for all kids.

Is DC League of Super-Pets Kid Friendly?

You can expect to see some animated violence plus some crude jokes, innuendos, and potty language. To sum it up, DC League of Super-Pets is mostly kid-friendly, but there are some hesitations for younger kids if they don’t mind the 1 hour and 46 minute run-time and parents don’t mind the implied language and innuendos.

Language

There is no profanity in DC League of Super-Pets but be mindful of words like stupid, idiot, dummies, and dum-dum, losers, and crap.

There are also some phrases that are bleeped out with an implied use of the f-word. So although the word is bleeped out, you get the gist. This is why this movie skews a little towards an older kid.

Mature Content

There is some kissing and conversations about making out and spending the night together. There is also flirting amongst adults involving same-sex and opposite-sex couples.

As expected with pet films, you’ll get a lot of potty humor including jokes about licking one’s self, poop, butts rubbing on the ground, peeing on the floor, etc.

There is some animated violence with the super-pets like fighting and punching, but nothing over the top. However, some kids who are sensitive to animals being injured may not be ok with the content. There are some explosions as well as characters getting electrocuted or slapped. However, they do joke about their injuries.

DC League of Super-Pets Age Rating

Is DC League of Super-Pets Appropriate for Kids Under 8?

While there may be some questionable jokes and animated violence, DC League of Super-Pets is appropriate for kids 8 and over. I’d also recommend it for kids ages 5, 6, and 7 as long as parents are ok with the content. Most jokes aimed for adults will go over kids’ heads much like Minions: The Rise of Gru

I’m happy to see films marketed towards children keeping it PG and age appropriate. That was one of the issues I had with The Batman

If you’re a pet lover, then this film will reinforce the bond that humans and pets have. Not only does this movie have jokes, but it has heart. Johnson and Hart are a great comedic duo with their usual tomfoolery. Kids will love the potty humor and superhero action. DC League of Super-Pets is a fantastic time at the movies!

DC League of Super-Pets is a fun and different take, focusing on the pets of superheroes. With bright and impressive visuals, hilarious jokes with a great screenplay, talented actors, and adorable characters, DC League of Super-Pets is one of my favorite DC films. Add this to the list of must-see family summer flicks!
