Book Club: The Next Chapter Parents Guide

Wondering if Book Club: The Next Chapter is ok for kids and teens? With lots of sexual innuendos, this may not be the best choice for some kids, and perhaps would make a better girl’s night out flick. Here’s what parents need to know in this Book Club: The Next Chapter Parents Guide.

Book Club: The Next Chapter Parents Guide

The best friends are back, and this time it’s a European adventure. When Covid is over and the friends get back together for a Book Club, Vivian announces she’s engaged! They decide to celebrate with a trip to Italy that was supposed to be taken years ago. When things go off the rails and secrets are revealed, their relaxing vacation turns into a once-in-a-lifetime cross-country adventure. Surprises and adventure await.

Age Rating: Why is Book Club The Next Chapter Rated PG-13?

Book Club The Next Chapter is rated PG-13 for language and suggestive material which means some content may not be suitable for kids under 13.

Language

There is some harsh language in Book Club 2 including uses of sh*t, damn, f*ck, bastard, and words of Deity like “oh my g-d” Jesus Christ, and g-ddammit.

Mature Content

The humor in Book Club 2 is for mature audiences. There are a lot of sexual jokes and sexual connotations, as well as actual sex. There is no nudity shown but many different characters kiss and are shown with clothes disheveled. Sex is implied.

Characters look at naked statues in Italy and comment on penis size.

Boats and vans are seen shaking implying sex. In one instance nothing happened.

Mature conversations occur about death, illness, growing old, friendships, and relationships.

Is Book Club 2 Appropriate for Kids Under 13?

You can expect some mature conversations, jokes about sex, and sexual innuendos in Book Club: The Next Chapter. To sum it up, Book Club 2 is not kid friendly for kids under 13. Nor do I think they’d be that interested in the film unless they want to see some fun Italy shots.

Book Club: The Next Chapter hits for a certain demographic. That’s not to say it can’t be enjoyed by others, but women over 50 in my theater were loving every second.

Queens Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen, and Mary Steenburgen are hilarious together. While the story itself is nothing new and the stars are underutilized, they are still what make the movie. It’s a Golden Girls-esque European adventure.
