Is A Million Miles Away Appropriate for Kids Under 10?
A Million Miles Away is perfect for family movie night. It ranks up there with movies like McFarland, USA. A movie where we can cheer for the underdog. Although not action-packed, A Million Miles Away teaches us to dream.
A Million Miles Away is kid friendly for ages 10 and up, but may be too slow paced for younger kids.
And it highlights overcoming struggles and odds to accomplish your dreams. While I would have liked to know more about José’s life and qualities and why he really wanted to go to space, I still appreciated the tenacity and persistence. And of course the support of his wife and family.
A Million Miles Away is also wonderful to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with more latinx stories and accomplishments. Michael Peña is a terrific actor that showcased the sacrifices many families and migrant workers make for better lives.
