Twenty years later and Meryl Streep is still as stunning and shrewd as ever in The Devil Wears Prada 2. All the main characters are back, and they haven’t missed a beat. However, some haven’t shown much growth either. While there are mature themes in The Devil Wears Prada 2, it is mostly kid friendly for kids ages 12 and older. Here’s what parents need to know.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 Parents Guide
Twenty years ago Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) left Runway and Miranda Priestly’s (Meryl Streep) claws to pursue more serious journalism. When she and her colleagues are suddenly let go from their paper, Andy is hired by Irv Ravitz, head of Elias-Clarke Publications, which now owns Runway. He needs Andy to help Runway since they’ve got caught in a scandal, much to Miranda’s chagrin. What’s even worse is that Miranda also has to rely on Emily’s (Emily Blunt) help, now that she’s working at Dior, one of Runway’s biggest advertisers. Although Andy’s confidence has grown, Miranda still has a way of making her feel like maybe she really doesn’t belong.

Is The Devil Wears Prada 2 Appropriate for Kids Under 12?
You can expect great fashion, familiar character arcs, mature themes, strong language, and some rude comments. To sum it up, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is kid friendly for kids ages 12 and older. If your child is younger than that and has seen the first film, then they should be fine. There is nothing too shocking or demeaning in this film, other than some stereotypes and a joke about suicide. There’s just not a lot for the younger crowd.
Meryl Streep is the center of every scene she’s in, and the movie is worth seeing for her alone. Surprisingly, Miranda may be the character with the most growth since the first film, and she’s the one who doesn’t need it. Miranda Priestly doesn’t need to grow, change, or apologize, but fans may enjoy a touch of a softer side. I, personally, enjoy the more devilish side.
Emily and Nigel are a delight as well, also falling back into the rhythm of their 2006 personas, only a bit modernized in 2026. The biggest pause for me is in Andy. The setup is promising as scandal, tragedy, and potential fortune conspire to bring her back to Runway in a new capacity. Early on the film suggests we’re going to get a more complex, seasoned version of the woman we watched walk away all those years ago.
Once she’s back inside those Runway halls, Andy and the film, seem to slide back into the same patterns, the same conflicts, and even some of the same jokes as the original. What worked was the commentary on the transformation of journalism and the decline of traditional jobs in the field. That was the part of the story that peaked my interest, but I also was thoroughly entertained by the core 4.
Would I watch a part 3? Absolutely. Just don’t make me wait another 2o years, please. That’s all.
