So you’re in the mood to watch something spooky, and don’t know what to watch? These 12 Halloween movies on Hulu will definitely put you in the Halloween spirit!
Best Halloween Movies to Watch on Hulu in 2022
Sometimes movies come in and out of streaming platforms, but here’s what’s on Hulu in 2022 for some frightful October nights!. A lot of these films are for mature audiences, but the bottom of the list are some more kid friendly picks. You can also check out these Halloween movies for kids and teens.
The Blair Witch Project
Found video footage tells the (fictitious) tale of three film students (Heather Donahue, Joshua Leonard, Michael C. Williams) who’ve traveled to a small town to collect documentary footage about the Blair Witch, a legendary local murderer. Over the course of several days, the students interview townspeople and gather clues to support the tale’s veracity. But the project takes a frightening turn when the students lose their way in the woods and begin hearing horrific noises.
This film does not have blood and gore but it’s scary. I remember watching it in high school and having a nightmare or two. The Blair With Project is rated R.
Ghostbusters
After the members of a team of scientists (Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray) lose their cushy positions at a university in New York City, they decide to become “ghostbusters” to wage a high-tech battle with the supernatural for money. They stumble upon a gateway to another dimension, a doorway that will release evil upon the city. It’s up to them to save New York City. Ghostbusters is a classic and is rated PG.
Ghostbusters II
After saving New York City from a ghost attack, the Ghostbusters are disbanded for demolishing parts of the city during the battle. But when Ghostbuster Peter Venkman (Bill Murray) learns that spirits have taken an interest in his son, the men launch a rogue ghost-chasing mission. The quest quickly goes awry, landing them in court. But when the ghosts turn on the judge, he issues an order allowing the Ghostbusters to get back to work.
If you’re gonna watch Ghostbusters, you gotta watch the second one.
The Sixth Sense
Cole Sear (Haley Joel Osment) is haunted by a dark secret: he is visited by ghosts. Cole is frightened by visitations from those with unresolved problems who appear from the shadows. He is too afraid to tell anyone about his anguish, except child psychologist Dr. Malcolm Crowe (Bruce Willis). As Dr. Crowe tries to uncover the truth about Cole’s supernatural abilities, the consequences for client and therapist are a jolt that awakens them both to something unexplainable.
The Sixth Sense is a psychological thriller that isn’t too intense but gives enough of a scare factor to be considered for Halloween season. This is a good film for tweens and teens that want some scary, but not too much.
Hellraiser (2022)
This is a new Hellraiser for 2022. It’s bloody and gory, if you like that kind of horror. You can read the Hellraiser Parents Guide for age recommendations.
A young woman must confront the sadistic, supernatural forces behind an enigmatic puzzle box responsible for her brother’s disappearance. Hellraiser is rated R.
Fright Night (2011)
Teenage Charley Brewster (William Ragsdale) is a horror-film junkie, so it’s no surprise that, when a reclusive new neighbor named Jerry Dandridge (Chris Sarandon) moves next-door, Brewster becomes convinced he is a vampire. It’s also no surprise when nobody believes him. However, after strange events begin to occur, Charlie has no choice but to turn to the only person who could possibly help: washed-up television vampire killer Peter Vincent (Roddy McDowall).
Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark
A young girl sent to live with her father and his new girlfriend believes that she has released creatures from a sealed ash pit in the basement of her new home. Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark is a remake of a 1970’s film of the same name.
This film is more creepy than scary, but it’s a good film where you want to yell at the characters for making dumb choices.
Run (2020)
Run is another psychological thriller with crazy mother. Chloe was raised by her mother, Diane, in total isolation. Her mother has totally controlled her since she was born, but now as a teenager Chloe is starting to explore her mother’s secrets. However her mom does not want her to find them.
Fresh
The horrors of modern dating are seen through the eyes of a young woman who is battling to survive her new boyfriend’s unusual appetites. Warning, this film is about cannibalism. If that’s your jam, this movie will definitely freak you out. My friends liked it a lot, but it wasn’t for me. This film premiered in Sundance this year.

Double, Double, Toil and Trouble
Now we get into some Halloween movies for kids. Double, Double, Toil and Trouble starts Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen when they were kids. If you’re a fan of Full House or if your kids have seen reruns, then this is good, cheesy fun.
Determined twins try to trick an evil aunt (Cloris Leachman) out of a magic moonstone and save their family home.
Hotel Transylvania
When monsters want to get away from it all, they go to Count Dracula’s (Adam Sandler) Hotel Transylvania, a lavish resort where they can be themselves without humans around to bother them. On one special weekend, Dracula invites creatures like the Invisible Man, the Mummy and others to celebrate the 118th birthday of his daughter, Mavis (Selena Gomez). However, an unforeseen complication unfolds when an ordinary human unwittingly crashes the party and falls in love with Mavis.
I love Hotel Transylvania and this is one of my favorite films to watch at Halloween as a family. It’s funny, packed with monsters, and has a good message.
Monster House
Three teens discover that their neighbor’s house is really a living, breathing, scary monster. Now the problem is getting other people to believe it so they can save the neighborhood. Monster House is rated PG, but is probably geared towards tweens. It is a scary animated film, but the animation is really cool. However, the house does attack people, so little kids beware.
