This post is sponsored by Olay and Walmart through Acorn Influence. I participated in the 28-Days of Olay skin study. Opinions and results are all my own.
Let’s face it. Sometimes as moms we put ourselves last. It’s natural to want to take care of everyone. We’re busy. We have families. Jobs. Laundry. Dinner. Extracurricular activities. School projects. All of the above. When is there time for us? Well, moms, here are 5 easy ways we can pamper ourselves.
Get a Mani/Pedi
One of the things I love most is having pretty nails, but I’m frugal with certain things, so usually I’d reserve this treat for birthdays or when I was having a baby. I would think, why bother getting a manicure? All the nail polish just chips off anyway. when I’m washing the dishes.
I needed a new mindset. You should treat yo self even if it’s not a holiday! If you don’t want to spend the money at a nail salon, then run to Walmart and pick out a spiffy new color and paint your own nails. That’s a luxury in my house, too.
Read a Book or Watch a Movie
Quiet time. In my house it’s hard to come by. I need to remember to make that time. Whether it’s reading a book or watching a movie, put the kids to bed early or save those dishes or laundry until the next day and take a couple of hours for yourself.
Pamper Your Skin
Have you ever seen Latinas with this amazing flawless skin? Me, too. Too bad I wasn’t blessed with that gene. Admittedly I’m gotten lazy with my skincare. Sometimes I’m too tired to remove the makeup from my face at bedtime. I know, I know…
I decided to participate in the 28 Days of Olay Study. Growing up, I always remember my mom had her pink Olay bottle on her bathroom sink. She was blessed with amazing skin or maybe it was her skincare products.
First, I used my phone to go to the Olay Skin Advisor Tool and upload a picture without any makeup on. Then I answered different questions about my skin type, problem areas, etc. The Olay Skin Advisor Tool will give your skin an age and recommend products tailored to you.
It recommended the Regenerist Micro-sculpting Cream and the Ultimate Eye Cream. I picked my products up at Walmart and got started.
After 28 days and being consistent (I forgot a couple of days), I could see results. The texture of my skin changed. It was smoother and more hydrated. Also the bags under my eyes decreased and weren’t as prominent. And it’s not like I got more sleep. These products are a great price point for the results produced. Our skin is important, so let’s remember to take care of it.
Buy Yourself Flowers
I love receiving flowers, but I can’t always expect someone’s going to do that for me. So when I need a little pick-me-up, I buy myself flowers, but like the $10 variety pack. It brightens the room, makes me smile, and I can admire them for days to come.
Another way I pamper myself is going to the wax center in my town. These eyebrows aren’t going to shape themselves and they can get unruly quickly. I would love to get my legs waxed, but I’m not sure my pain threshold can handle that.
Whatever makes you happy or will brighten your day, remember to pamper yourselves. You deserve it. If you’re on a budget, these are easy, inexpensive ways to give yourself a break. If you’re feeling more high budget, plan a girls’ weekend or stay at a hotel for one night and take all the time you want in the bathtub without any interruptions. Extra bonus pampering points if you throw some bath bombs in there.
Whenever I take the time to focus on me for a little bit, I’m rejuvenated as a mother and am ready to tackle whatever’s next. So pencil in that time, mamas, and remember to relax!
