Walt Disney World knows how to throw a party. In addition to the Halloween parties going on right now, they offer a Christmas party, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, starting in November.
I’ve been to a few of these, and they can most definitely be worth the extra price of admission. Around the $75 mark is when I start to cringe. When you hit the $100 mark, then I gasp a bit.
However, I like a good holiday party, and they do add some extra magic to a Disney vacation. These are my top 4 reasons going to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party should be on your Disney to-do list.
“Free” snacks are always a way to get my attention. If you want to know anything about me, I will never turn down an opportunity to eat something sweet while strolling through the parks.
Cookies and hot cocoa are part of the party and you can eat & drink as much as you want for free. The first year I attended the party we had the most delicious Snickerdoodle cookies. I legit still think about those babies.
But last year? Some sort of chocolate chip cookies made their way into the rotation. And they weren’t even good chocolate chip cookies. How does that happen? I like chocolate anything.
I stuck to drinking my weight in hot chocolate. Hopefully this year they have learned their lesson and the Snickerdoodles will be back!
I love the special holiday snacks they add to different restaurant menus though. Paint something red and green, and I’m in the holiday spirit.
ETA: According to WDW News Today, there are more free snacks!! The people have spoken.
- Hot Chocolate and Snickerdoodle cookie in Tortuga Tavern, Adventureland
- Eggnog and Gingersnap Molasses Cookie in Heritage House, Liberty Square
- Snow Cone and Snowman Sugar Cookie in Friar’s Nook, Fantasyland
- Spiced Apple Cider and Snowman Sugar Cookie in Pete’s Silly Sideshow Storybook Circus, New Fantasyland
- Hot Chocolate and Peppermint Bark Cookie in The Lunching Pad, Tomorrowland
There’s always a dance party to be found at these parties. I love to dance. I don’t do it well, but it brings me joy. The first year I went we danced all night at Club Tinsel with DJ Cane and Chip and Dale. It was a blast and a highlight of the party for me.
I heard that DJ Cane is indeed back at Cosmic Ray’s for 2016!
Another year, they had a dance party with characters in Frontierland. You want to talk about a Country Bear Jamboree? Well those bears can boogie, especially that Liver Lips!
SPECIAL CHARACTER PHOTOS
I’m still a sucker for taking pictures with Disney characters. I love them! I love them when they have their fancy holiday dresses on or their dapper suits. These outfits are special for the party. I also love when more rare character come out like the Disney Princesses and their Princes. Heeeeeey, Flynn Rider! Ok, I lied. Totally worth $100 to get a pic with that smolder.
I love watching the fireworks at Walt Disney World and the Christmas show ranks right up there!
The colors and the music tell such a wonderful story that gets me in the mood for the holiday.
The season is practically perfect when you sit on Main Street, U.S.A. with a cup of cocoa and a cookie and watch Holiday Wishes go off around Cinderella Castle. When the snow on Main Street, U.S.A. starts falling, that’s just the icing on the holiday cookie.
That cookie just better be a Snickerdoodle is all I’m saying.
Have you been to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party?
