‘Ohana Dinner Review – Is it Worth the Price?

With so many restaurants to choose from at Walt Disney World Resort, how do you choose where to spend your money? Dinner at ‘Ohana Disney World at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort used to be in my top 5 meals. But with some of the restaurant changes after the reopening, things aren’t quite the same. I’ll give you a glimpse of what you can expect from the ‘Ohana menu, the ‘Ohana Disney prices, and hopefully it will help you decide whether ‘Ohana is worth the price in 2022.

Should you dine at dinner at 'Ohana at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort?

‘Ohana Dinner Review at Disney World

One of the reasons I love ‘Ohana so much is because I get to visit Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. It’s so pretty around the grounds, so I arrive early to walk around a bit.

Plus there are Dole Whips here at Pineapple Lanai outside of the lobby. Sometimes I get them as an appetizer or maybe an extra dessert. Then I head upstairs to check-in. The dinner rush gets hectic, so if you can, I recommend an early or late dinner.

Check in for 'Ohana Disney World on the top level of Disney's Polynesian Village Resort.

You’ll find this sign upstairs and then get in line to the left of the sign where you check-in at the podium. Sometimes they accept walk-ups, but usually you’ll need a reservation. You can also check for walk-up reservations via the My Disney Experience app. You just have to be within close distance to add your name to the list.

‘Ohana Restaurant Disney World

‘Ohana at Disney World is one of the restaurants I usually recommend for large parties, because there is space to push tables together. Also, they don’t usually let strollers in the restaurant, but one time I had a sleeping baby, and they let me push the stroller in a back corner, so she could continue to sleep. It was a lifesaver.

Sometimes you’ll get lucky and get a table with a view. If you eat at the right time you can see the fireworks from Magic Kingdom, and they will pipe in the music during dinner.

During the day at 'Ohana you have a view of the pool, at night there's fireworks.

Some of the decor has changed and they did get new chairs that aren’t quite as comfy as the old ones. But you still get some delightful musical entertainment.

‘Ohana Dinner Menu

The dinner menu at ‘Ohana is full of some amazing items! If you’ve been a fan of the food at ‘Ohana for a long time, you know they tweak things, but the biggest change since ‘Ohana reopened is that they no longer brings skewers of fresh meat to your table. It used to be like a Brazilian churrascaria. That definitely changes things.

Dinner at ‘Ohana is served family style, so they bring you big platters of the food to share. Remember cousins, ‘Ohana means family, so no need to be shy. You are always welcome to ask for more.

First up is bread with honey butter and a mixed greens salad with citrus vinaigrette.

The pot stickers, chicken wings, and noodles are my favorite! I have to be careful not to fill up too much on those.

Pork Dumplings tossed in Garlic-Ginger Sauce and the Honey-Coriander Chicken Wings, yum!! In that skillet you’ll also receive ‘Ohana Noodles, and Roasted Broccolini.

You’ll also get skillets of Wood-fire Grilled Teriyaki Beef, Spicy Peel-n-Eat Shrimp, Grilled Chicken with Polynesian-inspired Chimichurri Sauce, ‘Ohana Noodles, and Roasted Broccolini.

The beef was really tender and delicious, and the shrimp was pretty good, too.

The chicken with chimichurri was fine. I think it was just too much sauce, but I’m sure I could have asked for it on the side, too. I was already too full to make any kind of requests. Plus I needed to save room for dessert.

And for the best part – dessert! ‘Ohana Bread Pudding is served à la mode. Before it was a banana-caramel sauce, which was divine.

Now the bread pudding is more of a pineapple upside down cake flavor. You can pour the caramel sauce on yourself or your server can do it. The dessert is still really good, but I can’t say I don’t miss the old bread pudding. I also ask for extra ice cream, too, because I like ice cream.

‘Ohana Dinner For Kids

Kids can eat what the adults are having on the ‘Ohana Disney menu or they can order a kids’ meal. A couple of my younger children prefer a cheeseburger or chicken nuggets. Regardless of what your child eats, they’ll pay the same price.

There are no characters during dinner at ‘Ohana, only during breakfast.

Is Dinner at ‘Ohana Disney World Worth it?

For my family of 7, it’s reserved for a special occasion, because honestly, ‘Ohana Disney prices are expensive. When it’s just me with friends, then absolutely.

Dinner is approximately $59 for adults and $38 for children under 10. If your child decides to have a cheeseburger for dinner, then it stings a bit to spend $38 for that and french fries. But then I’m usually more apt to say sure eat all the ice cream you want.

I have had a miss or two with dinner at ‘Ohana Disney World on occasion, but it’s usually a reliable standby. My family and I love it! I just wish we could afford it every trip.

Before, I would pay $59 in a heartbeat, but now, ‘Ohana is just ok for me. Still good, but not what it once was.

If You Can’t Find a Reservation at ‘Ohana at Disney World

I always suggest to keep trying to snag a coveted ‘Ohana dinner reservation. Some people will cancel last-minute if their plans change. Also I suggest arriving right when ‘Ohana opens if you’re going to try a walk-up reservation. I’ve had luck with that many times.

If you do get turned down at the podium, then I suggest trying to eat at Kona Cafe, right across the hall. They have similar pot stickers and chicken wings that will hit the spot. Also, if it’s not busy and I’m super nice, they’ve brought me the ‘Ohana bread pudding for dessert before at Kona. Pixie dust at its finest.
